If my sleep test results were 16 is that considered a problem?

I assume you refer to an AHI of 16. The way I understand it, indications for treatment of OSA is an AHI of 15 or above. Under 15 (mine is 12) is indicated for treatment with other conditions present such as hypertension etc...

what does insurance money pit mean? Is this all just for the money or does the treatment really help?

It's the sleep study/DME/insurance... money pit.
IMHO the road to getting diagnosed and treated for Sleep Apnea is way more costly than it should be. The high cost prevents many people from getting treated.
Common OSA is relatively easily diagnosed and treated and when treated can improve the health and quality of life for Apnea sufferers immensly.
Whatever the cost if you can get treated.
It's the sleep study/DME/insurance... money pit.

This treatment works!
It also is a license to steal for DME's
They are theives and are ripping off insurance companies and us.
I cannot believe the same insurance company that denies reasonable and customary office visit charges of my doctors is the same one that recommended the DME I am using that charges $64.00 for a 6' grey hose.
It really makes me mad!!!!!
