I REALLY want to thank ALL of you for taking the time to post a reply here. Since I posted, I allowed myself to sleep on my side, and tried a full face mask from a friend who has the same Rx. I slept THE WHOLE NIGHT!!!!!! I didn't wake up a single time for the first time since i was born. (probably....) I have an appointment with my Dr. tomorrow, and a appt. with the DME tomorrow as well.

Another Q: I would REALLY like a machine that gives me all the data I see people talking about...but how do I go about asking for that? Does my Dr. need to write a new scrip specifically stating that I need a machine that does that?

My Specs: REMStar PLUS C-Flex W/ humidifier (i never turn the heater on...I really dont like hot air blowing on me....almost wish there was a cooling feature on my humidifier)
Nasal Mask (generic one that Apria gave me)
My level is 11 and my ramp start 4.5
And I have no idea about any of my data, no one ever told me, or let me see the results of my sleep study.

Get your doctor to write a new prescription with a data capable machine. One that tracks AI & HI and leak rates (Not just compliance data) Do a search. There a threads with sample prescriptions and list of good machines.

Note that they are billed under the same insurance code but the DME doesn't make as much money but they must fill prescriptions as written.

If the doc doesn't want to your GP can do it (so can your dentist). Nobody would expect a diabetic to control their insulin with data, why should we not be able to control our therapy the same way - is the argument to use.

Glad to hear of your good night's sleep.

If your machine is this one:

https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... cflex.html

You might be able to get your DME to upgrade you to this one:

https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/respi ... -plus.html

They're charging your insurance the exact same amount, regardless of whether you get the top of the line or the bottom of the barrel. The difference to them is THEIR profit.......and not your therapy.

My husband uses the humidifier in Passover mode filling it with distilled water but not turned on. You should also insist on getting a copy of your entire sleep study and your RX, it's part of your medical records and you're entitled to have them. The right bed pillow makes side sleeping very comfortable. You can do a Search here for preferences. Glad you had a better night, keep us posted.
