So yesterday I got to go pick up my new S9 Autoset.
It was well worth the 2 hour drive as my costs after insurance turned out to be under $80. Cheaper than the PR System One Auto would have been at the DME in my hometown as they quoted me $200.
The new DME is pretty nice. Their RT fitted me for a Resmed Hybrid mask, which I'll have sent to me in 3 months when I'm due for a new mask, the previous DME didn't bother fitting me for anything, they just shoved the type of mask I requested at me, and told me they had to order the one I wanted.
She did make me chuckle a couple of times, she changed a setting in the clinical menu, and hugged the machine so I couldn't see what buttons she was pressing. Like thats gonna stop me knowing She also told me that the EPR setting didn't matter as it only worked during the ramp when it was set to APAP mode
And the Resmed rep told me they knew the machine *really* well. First thing I did when i got home was change the setting from ramp to full time.
Anyway, I have to say I'm really liking the S9. I was waking up during the night a couple of times with the System One and Swift LT mask, but last night I had my new Swift LT for her, and I think its a little smaller because it seemed to fit better and I didn't have any leaks that woke me up in the night, nor any issues with the S9, because I slept the night through with no awakenings. The EPR every bit as good as the AFLEX, and was just as comfortable, although my pressures don't go above 12 most of the time. My husband did note that is was a lot quieter than the PR.
Now I didn't get my climateline hose yet, as they hadn't ordered it, I guessed they missed that part of the prescription but I have to say I really liked the slimline hose, it was a lot less intrusive than the regular hose on the PR APAP. It was so light and never bothered me when I moved, and actually the humidity seemed better on the S9. I actually had to turn it down because it was making me stuffy, and yet I didn't get any rainout, maybe because I have my hose running over my headboard. But the PR wouldn't put out any humidity at all in my cold room.
I also really liked that I could see my pressure when I woke up in the morning, without having to turn on the light to see the display (and risk waking up husband), and of course being able to check my AHI, pressure and leak from my last sleep on the display without having to download the card, which I haven't got around to doing yet.
Oh and the cherry on the cake, was that my AHI was zero. Yay!
Definitely glad I stuck to my guns for the S9. So far its worked out all the way around.
Finally Got My S9.

Excellent! Glad you stuck to it and got the machine you felt would give you the best therapy. I've been very happy with mine so far - no 0 AHI's yet, but I haven't gotten 'adventurous' with the clinical menu yet, either. (I'm still running at CPAP 7cm.) It probably won't be all that long before I do start tweaking.

OMG,
you got a zero AHI ???? good for you!!!
hope you rack up a bunch of those zeros!
I think IM finally getting my s9 fine tuned as well..
OH, be sure to make a note of your AHI before noon, as it erases off the screen after that.
I check the weather report at night now, and adjust my humidity and heated hose accordingly.. (windows open)
That climate line hose is sooooooooo much nicer than the stuff bulky hoses, its as soft and pliable as a kitten tail!
Congrats on your great start, here is to many more great nights!
