I have to admit I'm surprized that nobody's posted a "horror story" of quitting and having to get back on therapy again.

I understand that OSA is a life-long condition that needs to be managed on a daily basis, I'm not THAT stupid. BUT, I am that STUBBORN! I don't believe every word that comes out of my doctors mouth. If I had an AHI of ~0~ for a year, I'd definately TRY going a few nights "nakid" just to see what happened. Doesn't mean I'd throw out my machine....just in case I was wrong.
Ive been going naked myself the last month or so, used my pulsemeter to check my desats. I just want to sleep without that mask on my face sometimes. I stay above 90% saturation 99% of the time with a few drops to 88%. Never gasped for air or snored much when I had a bed partner, never fell asleep at the wheel and I did dream in REM, worked out for hours at the gym with energy to spare...and I think the CPAP freaked her out a bit so now I'm single. Yea I know she wasn't worth it.......I'm sure mu future love interests will love when I mask up!

OH SHE SO WASNT WORTH IT!!! Yes, Im sure your future love interest will love it when you mask up, and probably want to play
jet pilot with you!

Of course WE are concerned that you are doing okay not wearing your mask.. I know you are saying you are feeling pretty good and
dreaming.. did you have a severe case before you went naked?

I know I cant get by without mine, heart pounding into the mattress wakes me up when Im mouth breathing..

I hope you are going to be okay!

Yes I had a AHI 0f 57which is severe but half were hypneas with all with a 20 sec duration with mostly over 90% oxygen saturation. Dating is hard to begin with, doing it with a mask on is a deal breaker lets not kid each other. Also I don't believe everything the medical community comes up with, the Israeli study backed up by the German study proves this that moderate sleep apnea patients live longer than the general population. Oh yes she was worth it. Thanks Elena for your concern but being depressed is a worse disease. We all make decisions in life to get by. I did use the machine last night though.

Dear Mac,

Wearing a hose and mask to bed are definitely not dealbreakers for most women. Being insensitive and critical or unkind and rude, those are dealbreakers! Treat your new girl friend with love and respect and if she is a decent human being, your mask and hose will just be another part of you - more to love. When I first met my husband he had only one upper tooth left - years of drinking had left him without teeth! But I met him, kissed him, fell in love and took him to my dentist for a well made denture. Then I took him to a dermatologist to check his skin for skin cancer, since years of landscaping had left him a nice tan shade of brown - oh, he was sexy, but I was afraid of all the damage the sun could do. So, you see, as long as a woman feels respected and loved, your hose and mask won't be a turn off at all.

Warmly,

Jersey Girl
