WOW!!!!
To everyone who has responded and shown such an outpouring of support-THANK YOU!!!! I wish I had the time to respond to each post, but, alas, I must make a living...but each of you have boosted my spirits, and I appreciate all of the advice! I just discovered this forum yesterday, but will spend more time reading up on everything this W/E. Such a collection of nice folks!
This is all so overwhelming
Re: This is all so overwhelming
Hi. Maybe something is really wrong with your machine. They can make obnoxious noises when they are in need of repair. But any change in sleep sounds and sensations takes time for the brain to get used to and accept as normal and safe to sleep thru. I once lived in an apartment where a train track and crossing was about than 100 ft from my bedroom window. Within about 2 to 3 weeks I wasn't even hearing them when they went blaring thru and shaking the house every nite at 2am. Somehow our brain figures it out and we sleep.

Re: This is all so overwhelming
Welcome and you have found a great group of folks willing to help. I have been on CPAP machine for well, 15 years now, with the first 14 on the same machine. My hubby hated it. All the time, he hated it. I was diagnosed at age 40 and he said it was our new method of Birth control. We got past that too!
I have a new machine and he hardly hears it at all, altho he is still willing to blame noises he hears during the night on either me or the machine. The other night it was rain he was hearing, not me and Snuffy.
I just choose to ignore him...or offer to move out of the room. He doesn't really want that either. I might have done that while I was getting used tho the thing back 15 years ago had their been another option for sleeping in our house, but our bedrooms were all full of sleeping kids.

At 2:00am when the mask is "burping" and you just can't seem to get back to sleep, remember this: you are not alone and we care. Many of us (me included) are newbs and a little daunted by this whole thing.
But the group is always here to help! Use us! It has helped me a lot! (just look at some of my time stamps in the wee hours when I need help )
Hang in there, the road can be a little "rough" at the start but it gets better.
Read the threads and use the search function (my big helpmate). You will probably find that some one has already found a solution. If not, just Post
Welcome, and best of luck
Cheers,
Dave
