This is a common problem. I did a search and found this recent thread for you.

You can try wearing the mask with the machine on during the day. Do this while watching TV or reading to help keep your mind off the mask. It may help you become accustomed to the mask more quickly. Try wearing the mask a couple of times each day while awake.

Thanks for doing that Katie.
Unfortunatly I dont think the S9 has a leak alarm that would wake me up if I took the mask off. And once I take the mask off, its several hours before I wake up and put it back on, so I am not feeling the benefit of cpap. However for the 3 or 4 hours when the mask is on, the leaks with the Activa are minimal, and the AHI is down from 66 AHI to 0.4 AHI which is extraordinary..... and thats after only two nights with cpap.... hooray.
Now I just have to stop taking off the mask and I'm off and running!!!

You're right, the S9 doesn't have the Leak Alarm, like the S8 did. Another thing you could try is to get an oximeter with a desaturation alarm. For sure, that will wake you up. I have the CMS 50E, from http://www.seamedicalsupply.com
