Mask blowout and the importance of having a spare

Post by Wolfhound668 » Mon May 17, 2010 8:44 am

So my mask had a blowout about 2am. I'm not sure what happened because although I could hear massive amounts of air leaking and was getting very little pressure darned if I could feel where the air was escaping from.

My mask comes apart in three pieces (inner seal, outer seal, and the plastic part). I'm thinking that there was a leak between the two seals causing the pressure drop in the inner seal and that the air was simply venting out through the regular exhaust vent. I've taken the whole thing apart and will reassemble it tonight.

Fortunately I have a spare mask (different brand then my primary) so I was able to switch over.

Yes, very important to have a spare. Many of us have a backup.....for everything.
