Question concerning H4i Humidifier

As you can see below I have an Resmed S8 Autoset with H4i humidifier. Does the humidifier heat at all with the setting turned down as low as it will go? I have been using it this way for several months now and still have to occasionally add more water to the tank. I am trying to decide if I really need the humidifier or if I can get by without it. I need to seriously look at my inverter options for backup power and for camping use. I understand the inverter requirements while using the humidifier.

It shouldn't.

There will still be some take up of water into the air flow, even if there is no heat applied. The humidfier still operates in a pass over mode.

Thanks Bill,

So it sounds like it would be pretty much just 'evaportation' from the air passing over the surface of the water. I should be able to go into the menus and set the machine to 'none' for the humdifier and still get the 'passover' moisture and then be able to use a 'non' true/pure sine wave inverter to power the machine and also save some battery power by not using any heat. Does that make sense?

Bill hit the nail right on the head.

I have a battery backup and it won't handle the humidifier and my instructions from Resmed was to turn the Humidifier knob all the way to the left and then plug in the cpap to the battery backup.... Last power outage I did that and everything was fine.

So no heat with H4i knob all the way to the left (off)
