Soon to be new guy

Post by hulahoop » Sat May 15, 2010 10:59 am

Hello,

I am 36 years old and just been diagnosed. Its taken some time and is actually my 3rd test. I was certain the first two were not examined well. Actualy during my second i had a 30 second stop to my breathing and the doc told me it was normal. Anyway i have a better doc now and he has taken a far more professional approach. He now sends me to another doc to get a CPAP machine.

I am really hoping that its gonna help, for years now i have been struggling with life and joba and loosing my temper, motivation is gone and I am generally unhappy.

I am really hoping that i may get some of those instant benefits that a lot of you guys got!

Anyway nice to meet you!

Bob

I am sure once you get set up and get your equipment you will find your health and spirits improving over all. I am pretty new to this has been close to 4 months for me. I am not totally where i need to be. I do feel there has been improvements in over all in energy. Just not snoring and sleeping in the same room with my wife is a major improvement. That is what drove me to get help from the doctors. I have learned quite a bit since then. If you stick with the advice from these knowledgeable folks here you will be feeling a lot better in no time.

Good luck

Welcome Bob, I'm glad you persisted in getting the proper sleep study and a good Dr. In the meantime while you're waiting to get your equipment read all you can and ask any questions that come to mind. Don't accept any machine that has Plus or Escape in the name, they only give compliance data(how long you use it) and not efficacy data(apneas, leaks, pressure). Also ask to try several masks and find out about exchange policy. Ask for a copy of your "complete" sleep study(not just a summary) and your prescription. They're part of your medical records and you should have them. BTW, we're great on motivation but don't do well with temper tantrums! Good luck and keep us posted. Dori
