need simple S9 adjustment directions

Post by Wildbuc » Sun May 09, 2010 8:00 pm

I have received my Resmed S9 and humidifier at last and have used it for only 4 days with a nasal mask. My problem is that my nose dries out something terrible and then begins to clog up so that I can't breathe. When I try to adjust the humidity level, I get a picture that shows both a thermometer and a water drop. When I activate the thermometer/water drop picture, it allows me to change the temperature---but not the humidity level. How does one do this?

Also, my pressure was set to range from 4-20 cm. When I begin treatment, the air pressure seems much to low, so that I have to work to take in air. Any comments?

I hope to post more interesting stories about my progress in the future. In spite of having initial difficulties, I am highly motivated to succeed and I am excited about prospects of better health.

Regards all.

To allow individual access to humidity and temperature separately, go into the clinician's menu by pushing the round knob and the lower button simutanelously. You can then use the knob to turn through the menus, and push down on the menu item to select the one you which to change. Under climate control, select manual, and exit out of the clinician's menu. This will allow you individual control of the two factors.

4 is an extremely low value for a beginning pressure. You don't give any clue as to your titrated value, but minimally I would suggest that you change that lower pressure to a minimum of 6 for starters.

Consider going into the Control area of this forum and listing what equipment etc you are using.......

Good luck in making changes........search the forum for answers, and keep asking questions when you need more specific answers or cannot find the info you seek, and you'll get lots of answers.

Thanks so much for that piece of information! I have been looking for it for the past 2 days without success. My DME was not very informative, and the manual says next to nothing. By the way, my initial AHI was 18. The titrated pressure recommended was 10. In the past few days, my treatment AHI has ranged from 4.5 to 11, not very good I understand but better than without treatment. Thanks again.

Wildbuc, if you register, people can send you a PM with a link the clinician's manual (someone who knows where it is, which is not me).
