My husband had a full beard and mustache and never had any problem with his nasal mask.

He decided to shave off the beard and is thinking of growing it back.

He uses the Respironics mask Size M whatever that one is.

I too am a side sleeper. I use one of the cheap memory foam pillows (from Walmart) plus two other pillows and have no ill effects with the NAII. I have used it more than 90 times in the last year, plus. I am now in need of new a prong piece and will be ordering just that from CPAP.COM.

I am not only a side sleeper, but a roller, starting on my left side, then face down, and then right side, rolling the final 360 and starting over. I use a very long hose to avoid pulling the machine off the night stand, which creates another problem, I wake up with it around my neck a couple of times.

It (NAII) has been my favorite mask up till the new FF mask that I got a week ago, and I have been using it since I got it, and I LOVE it. I don't think it would work with a beard.

Well, I've decided to try an Activa. I may try the Aura at some point, but I really wanted a mask for those "don't touch my nostril" nights. The nice folks at cpap.com confirmed what size I need, and it's ordered.

I'll let you know how it goes once I get it and give it a try.

Thanks for all the help!

Frank,

If you're like 99% of the users of the Activa, it will go just fine. REMEMBER to keep the straps loose, not tight.

MartiniLover,

Do the prongs hurt inside the nares? I thought for sure the hoses on both sides of the ears and the prongs would be a discomfort. What do I know...also, this doesn't leak as you roll around all night? That sounds like one hell of an interface. Do you have to have it sized or is it a one-size-fits-all type of deal?

It took a few days to get used to it. I used a little "oral gel" at night when I went to bed, rubbed it up into my nose and within a few days I was used to it. It was my very first mask, so anything I would have used probably would have taken a little time to get used to.

I have never had much trouble with it, but a couple of times I have knocked it out of my nose.

There is a sizing piece that you stick in your nose to size the prongs and you buy it by size. It is available from CPAP.COM and you just want a snug fit.

ML,

Thanks for the info. So you are saying, there are no leaks ever, but it can pull out of your nose accidentally? Wow, that's incredible. And we all know you can use a pantyhose leg to keep any mask in place. That sounds like a great option.
