How about this approach: "Doctor - thank you for what you've done so far - however - obviously, something is still seriously wrong. Where can we go from here? Perhaps hostipal admission for further tests?"daddycoop wrote:did a thyroid panel and new heart doc is #2 opinion, plus sodium level is low on blood test, I KNOW SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT BUT NO ONE WILL FIND IT

Re: POSSIBLE OR NOT?
Sorry, there are very few docs who will admit to a hospital just for a workup, without an emergent precipitating factor. Some of the edema could be related to the Avalide as it can cause water retention. Besides that and hormone replacement, what other meds are you on? Supplements? Herbal concoctions? How's your diet? Beer drinker? You've had all the tests they would run inpatient already, no need to really repeat them, unless you want to be stuck with the bill. Perhaps a second opinion would be in order. Fresh eyes, removed from the situation may pick up something your doc missed. Although the symptoms do sound cardiac related, more towards pulmonary hypertension that outright heart failure symptomalogy there could be any number of issues going on. Talk with your doc, explain what you're feeling and your symptoms tell him straight that you need to find answers. How about this approach: "Doctor - thank you for what you've done so far - however - obviously, something is still seriously wrong. The Avalide 300/25 he is on has a diuretic in it. I thought the diuretic was used to deal with the edema or water retention. Or are they two diferent things.TomL_RN wrote:Sorry, there are very few docs who will admit to a hospital just for a workup, without an emergent precipitating factor.
