Mask quick disconnect

Post by Photomatt » Tue Apr 20, 2010 1:58 pm

Does anyone make a quick disconnect that can go between the mask and the regular hose? I used to have a mask that switched to a smaller tube between the mask and the hose. It had a quick disconnect.

I now have a Resmid Miragee Active LT and I do not like having to take off the mask when I need to get up at night. Then I have to go through re-adjusting it each time. So I usually just pull the hose off. But now I find that the fitting is getting loose and coming off by itself several times during the night.

I use this item between my hose and mask and just pull it off for night trips. I do not remove the mask at all.

It works great and sure saves wear and tear on the hose both when putting the mask on at bedtime, getting up in the night, getting up in the morning. The "quick connect is always on my hose.

To add to Hawthorne, I use them everywhere I can. I have them on both hose ends, on the humidifier leads so in my circuit I have 4 in use. (Stand alone humidifier so that little hose uses 2)

Jules - come to think of it, I also have 4 in use with the ones for both ends of my short hose for the stand alone humdifier and the connection from the humidfier to the hose! Actually, I have the bent one on the end of the main hose that goes on the humidifier.

I didn't even think of the other 3 because they don't get used much - not like the one from hsoe to mask!!

Not all quick disconnects are made the same. I got one with a Fisher Paykel CPAP that was made from a hard white plastic that lasted for well over a year before it didn't hold any more. The generic ones that I have gotten from online suppliers are made from translucent plastic and they only last two or three months.
