Re: Delete Post
If someone posted after you, you may not be able to delete it and you may only be able to edit it. If you really want to take back all of what you said, you can just edit it and put "." or "deleted" in place of the text.

Re: Delete Post
Hi Talladega
One of the things I try to do now, after making many posts that I later regretted, or were incomplete, is to save the post. Then come back a little later, read it again, usually make some changes, look at the preview, and only when I am pretty sure I can do no more do I then post.
I still make mistakes, and have been known to edit a post half a dozen times whilst it is up on the forum. It is only when someone else has posted after me that I generally leave well alone. I also sometimes delete posts of mine which are really superfluous, and add nothing to the forum. But I do leave my mistakes where I have maligned someone and have had to apologise.
I always used to be in a hurry to post whatever it was I thought everybody should read. Now no longer; one year on this forum has given me a measure of patience and tolerance that I never thought I was capable of.
Of course - I have my days
cheers

Re: Delete Post
sorry couldn't resist posting a reply I too used to post like MAD in the first year, like "oh-oh teacher I know the answer!".... and then sort of over-dosed on the forum and had to stop, couldn't keep up with all the repliesmars wrote:I always used to be in a hurry to post whatever it was I thought everybody should read. My patient and tolerance too has increased, whether that's CPAP or getting more mature (as IF!) I dunno

Re: Delete Post
Thanks for the replies. I did find that after my original post, someone had added a post so the X was no longer present. I did just edit the post with an for my mistake.

Re: Delete Post
That's actually better than a "deleted" or ".", since it lets other readers know that the deletion / edit was done by you and not by someone else.talladega wrote:... I did just edit the post with an for my mistake. ...
'Sides it is always best to admit when you make a mistake. Tends to make other posters much more patient with you when you in the future.
