Trying to get Vista to recognize my Oximeter via USB. The oximeter want to communicate at USB Com Ports 4,7 or 8. In the Devise Manager says all those ports are "In Use" next one available is 10. The CMS 50 USB selects 10, but the software does not link to Com Port 10. The software sits there looking for data and can't find it.
How do you determine what devices are using those Com Ports? Can they be moved or deleted (Registry?) Would like to know what devise is using which com ports before I start deleting them.
Note: have no problem with XP. Using Vista Ulimate 64bit OS.

Re: Windows Vista Software for CMS 50E Pulse Oximeter (V 1.0)
Disclaimer, I don't have vista, so this is all based on XP... but essentially the process should be same/similar (though maye not ) And I'm using the CMS50F
To change the COM port the CMS is using to communicate:
Control panel -> Administrative tools -> Computer management -> Device manager ->
and while the CMS is plugged in
-> Ports (COM&LPT) -> USB to UART bridge (or something similar?) -> right click for Properties -> Port settings -> Advanced -> change COM port number
Try any other port number that's free.
Then you need to reboot.
I hope this works with Vista!
p.s. you might need updated drivers for Vista, I found an updated driver from the manufacturer of the converters (in fact it was for my USB to serial converter but it looks like the CMS50F uses the same driver!). The link to the new drivers that support Windows 7 and also Vista (I think) is in this post: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=51163&p=471522#p471522 (CP210x Virtual Com port)
EDIT: Hm, just realized that you were already in the device manager so you already know how to do all that.... anyway I'm not deleting the post just in case there's something in here that helps you anyway. I wouldn't start randomly deleting COM ports. First try changing the one the CMS is using with the method above. If that doesn't work try updating the driver.

Hi RoninHouston
I think I read in a previous post that the USB lead had to be the one that came with the oximeter, otherwise it would not download.

Re: Windows Vista Software for CMS 50E Pulse Oximeter (V 1.0)
It is at this point that I go to the menu on the CMS 50E. If I remember right it is the bottom line that you set to upload. The computer then sees the data and starts the transfer. Good LuckThe CMS 50 USB selects 10, but the software does not link to Com Port 10. The software sits there looking for data and can't find it.

Re: Windows Vista Software for CMS 50E Pulse Oximeter (V 1.0)
Thanks for the suggestions.
I am using the cable that came with the CMS 50e.
RLauren, all those ports are being used, plus the 50E does not come up as a choice. Choices are 60W, 60DW and 60F. Have tried every combination, still does not see my USB connection.
Loaded software on old computer with XP and it is working on port 8. Plus 50E shows up as a choice.

Re: Windows Vista Software for CMS 50E Pulse Oximeter (V 1.0)
I'm using a CMS 50E with Vista with no problems. The 50E and 60D are the 2 model options that report to the upload screen. As you are only getting 60W, 60DW and 60F it suggests you may have the wrong software. Please PM me if you want a copy of the software I'm using.
