Re: Getting Rescan 3.10 to Run on a Mac?
Hi, I'm new at this, three weeks into PAP, and just had enough of a night's sleep to start thinking about collecting comprehensive data from my S9. Am not super-savvy with computers, so would appreciate help with these questions:
I have a Mac, and I have Windows 98 on it. Should that be able to work with the S9 data card? I know I need an "intermediate" program, like Parallels or one of the others. If some, but not all, would work with my Windows 98, I need to know that, too. Naturally, I am especially interested in the free one. For all other purposes, I use only Apple applications.
Many thanks for any replies. At every turn, I am grateful for this group.

I'm not sure of your question(s). If you have Win98 installed already, then you're either using parallels, vmware fusion or boot camp. I am not familiar with S9, mine is older S8. But if you have a card reader and missing only the ResScan 3.10 software, check your pm box.ariana wrote: I have a Mac, and I have Windows 98 on it. Should that be able to work with the S9 data card? If you're asking whether Win 98 will work, sorry can't help with that. I'm using WinXp. I'm sure other's will chime in soon.
Good luck.
Re: Getting Rescan 3.10 to Run on a Mac?
I am pretty sure that Boot Camp (dual booting, included with Mac OS X) requires at least Windows XP SP2. I honestly doubt that you would be able to use the SD card in Windows 98 even if you could get it installed in either Boot Camp or one of the VM products (Parallels or VMWare Fusion). Also, you say you have Win 98 but do you have the install disc from a specific PC? Many times, that which came with a PC isn't a true full Windows installer. I think your cheapest option would be to buy Windows (no way of getting around that) and installing it using Boot Camp. The more convenient way is to also buy Parallels or VMWare Fusion and install Windows in that so you don't need to reboot the computer to use Windows.

Re: Getting Rescan 3.10 to Run on a Mac?
Thanks for the helpful replies, and sorry about the confusion. I have Windows 98 on a shelf, not on the computer. I now have good advice for going forward with more updated software. Hope I don't wreck my Mac or S9 because of bumbling. Will proceed with caution and check back when I need to.

I want to run the software on my Mac.
1. I plan to buy Parallels. Is that a good idea or should I just stick with Bootcamp.
2. Which Microsoft Operating System should I get? Vista, etc.?
I know nothing about PC's. I would use this for Rescan for sure and maybe for one or two other small programs.
Thanks for any help.

I wish there was a way to run medical programs with CodeWeavers CrossOver program, but it does not work!!!
Try BootCamp for a few weeks or months as it is the only true way to run Windows without special techniques. Windows XP can be purchased reasonably as System Builder edition which is a full install version. Buy the 32 bit version only. 64 bit is for those who love to solve problems and offers little advantage to most users. I own both Parallels and VMWare 3.2. VMWare is an excellent choice, but wait until you are sure you have everything else mastered as all usb peripherals and external disk drives have to connected to the VMWare System to function properly and this is not always obvious to those just starting out.
I have had no problems with the S9 and the Secure Digital disk actually loads through the slots on a HP printer and works perfectly every time. This was not the case for my previous Respironics Card Reader. You should eject the drive before removing it to keep Windows from fussing at you.
