Re: resmed users only!
I've tried an S8 Elite II CPAP and Autoset but my therapy has improved significantly since i got the S9, even my wife has noticed. We were talking about how the gamble of buying the S9 has really paid off. I did however have a septoplasty surgery 2 months prior to getting my S9 and there is a possibility that it took 2 months to fully recover and no longer having a deviated septum is helping my therapy. .dsm wrote:
Uncle_Bob,
Does this mean you have noticed this since swapping to an S8 from some earlier version ? (i.e. S8 or S8 II ? ).
Am guessing that you are meaning cpap therapy has made those changes & not just one model ?
Cheers

Re: resmed users only!
I get anywhere from .5 to 3.5. Most of these are hypopneas.

I agree with Katie but if you do not know how to change your settings you can do a search on changing cpap settings that will show you how. But in response to the post before Katie I do not believe the adjustment is automatic for all S8 machines unless you actually go up or down in altitude and even then I do not think they are automatic. At any rate my original suggestion to change the setting where you are now to a higher or lower altitude would allow you to try the adjustment without changing your pressure setting until you find out if that is what is going to work for you.
Re: resmed users only!
I'm similar with monthly averages from 1.2 to 1.9. Most nights AI=0.rosiefrosie wrote:I get anywhere from .5 to 3.5. Most of these are hypopneas.
ResMed S9 range 9.8-17, RespCare Hybrid FFM

Re: resmed users only!
It appears that Chad's thread has been hijacked by enthusiastic S9 owners! That's okay. It's really interesting. But Chad didn't ask which machine you preferred, just how to get the best numbers. (Many of us can't afford to run out and buy the newest, greatest machine.)
At any rate, after nearly a year on xpap, my numbers aren't quite as good as yours, Chad, but they are the best I can get, and I've used about every tip I have found to tweak things and tried numerous masks. So, for me, I've decided to just accept that I'm doing my best. I haven't slept this well for many, many years, and I feel good. That's what's important to me.

Altitude Changes
From the ResMed.com website under 'Travel FAQ':guest2 wrote:But in response to the post before Katie I do not believe the adjustment is automatic for all S8 machines unless you actually go up or down in altitude and even then I do not think they are automatic. Will I need to have my CPAP device adjusted if I travel to high altitudes?
Our S7 Elite™, S8 Elite™ and S8 Vantage™ devices will automatically compensate for altitude changes.
Our Lightweight™, S8 Escape™ and S8 Compact™ devices may require manual adjustment for altitude changes.
So, to repeat my earlier posting, it's done automatically for your unit.ephskiing377 wrote:fellow cpapers,
how do you change the altitude on the resmed s8 elite II cpap machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sincerely,

Yes, absolutely agree, Irene. We S9 newbies do tend to get obsessed with our numbers.Irene P. wrote:

Hi Chad,
Andreas
AI is usually below 1, often 0. HI is between 3 and 6m though.ephskiing377 wrote:I was wondering what are your daily AHI numbers are with your resmed cpap machines. I get any where from 4.0 up to 7x7.0 for a night. How do you resmed machine users get your AHI below 5?

Re: resmed users only!
Ha Katie,
The S8 AutoSett II EBW/EPR can reduce pressure while exhaling in cpap/apap modes, faster and up to 3 mbars. This reduces my personal HI from about 7 to 5.
Regards
Andreas
There are several versions of the S8 AutoSet II. The standard edition can reduce pressure while exhaling only to a certain degree, only in cpap mode and only slowly.KatieW wrote:When I was using my S8 AutoSet II, I found was more comfortable on cpap, after trying it on apap.
