cheapest easiest backup power source
Re: cheapest easiest backup power source
careful when selecting a UPS for CPAP backup. Most of them have a loud alarm that sounds when it is supplying backup power. Not much good if you are trying to sleep next to it.
Re: cheapest easiest backup power source
While this is fine for using just the blower, you can NOT use a standard modified sine-wave UPS with the humidifier. You either need to use a full sine-wave UPS or unplug the humidifier when using a standard UPS (most consumer-grade UPS's are NOT full sine wave--those are more expensive). At least this has applied to all Resmed humidifiers up to the H4i, and I am assuming it applies to the H5i with the S9 too.gpk111 wrote:I have a Resmed S9, which has an external "brick" transformer/inverter. How about just buying a UPS backup like you use for a PC. I am in a part of Florida where power is relatively reliable and most of the outages last less than 15 minutes.
Edit to add link to Resmed battery guide... it doesn't appear updated for the S9 yet:

It's a Dynamite PowerPro 300. I got mine from WM, but it's not "their' brand.pbach wrote:LinkC, Whick walmart model do you have? Thanks!
Here's a pic of one: http://www.dragtimes.com/parts/PowerPro ... 81700.html
It's nothing special, but it's relatively light and provides the power I need for my telescope.

And its cheaper than our cpap machines too.LinkC wrote:Good grief! That one has a built-in inverter AND an air compressor! (You can skip the CPAP machine altogether! )

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: cheapest easiest backup power source
Update - I finally got around to testing the Duracell last night. On my S8 (2009 model), without humidifier, and on auto (10-13), used it for almost 9 hours and still had 30% power left. For one night back-up, this seems to be just right.dtsm wrote: 1. Black and Decker Electromate 400
2. Duracell DPP 600 Power Start
Both are available from amazon.com with free shipping for under $150. Do a search for #1 for comments on people that have used this. I bought #2 but haven't tested it yet....plan to do so this weekend. Keep in mind none of the two options will operate the humidifier, only the blower.
PS - reminder, this backup is not meant to operate the built-in humidifier, which requires a pure sine wave and DC inverter. Pls don't plug your humidifier....you'll ruin it!

I have a Powrpro by Quip 600AH that runs my Remstar for two night on a charge. I love it.
always a hosehead, almost a hoser.
