It just keeps getting better and better:

It amazes me when people carry huge bags onto the plane and expect to be able to make them fit in an overhead bin. It is even more amazing when a passenger's "carry-on" is so heavy that they cannot lift it up into the bin. If the person had a physical challenge, I could understand, and I would help them if I were in a position to do so; but I have no sympathy for people who have a huge bag that weighs far more than what should be carried onto an airplane.

I have also seen people waddle onto airplanes carrying suitcases and shopping bags - they waddle because of the weight and awkwardness of their "carry-on" bags -- and the airlines have started cracking down on these people

How could you "pre-reserve" any time EXCEPT in advance? In fact, doesn't "reserve" by itself imply "in advance"? A triple redundancy! Does ANYBODY speak English anymore?

I can see them now at the check-in counter: "Sir,that's $30 per carry on bag or kidney..."

Isn't this an auction site for bags left in the overhead bins?

$30 might be a very good price for one.

It was some where around a hundred thou air miles when I got convinced the airlines had some of the most evil, sadistic
two legged parasites in existence. Between "UNITED we stand to screw you over", "Twits With Airplanes" and "A$$holes Among-us" I enjoyed many hours at their mercy.

How about "South-Worst" and "Worst-Jet?"

One of my favourites is Air Canada. Their motto seems to be: "We're not happy until you're not happy."
Buy a new hat, drink a good wine, treat yourself, and someone you love, to a new bauble, live while you are alive... you never know when the mid-town bus is going to have your name written across its front bumper!

Just FYI, air travel can be *very* fuel efficient. Yes a jumbo jet sucks down fuel like crazy, BUT when you divide the consumption rate by 100-200 passsengers it comes out far better than any car (91 effective MPG *per passenger* for a 747-400).

Trains still take the win though (on the order of 400-500 MPG per passenger).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_effic ... sportation is a nice overview.

AND trains don't charge extra for carry-ons OR checked bags. We took a vacation by train last summer. It was great...except for the sleeping.

The "sleeping compartment" we paid extra for was a joke. Not much sleeping going on, and barely a "compartment"...but it DID have a plug for the CPAP!
