software questions

Post by Rod » Thu Oct 13, 2005 6:30 pm

I don't understand the software issues being discussed.I don't have a machine yet, but am considering the RemStar auto with cflex and humidifier.Does software come with this machine? I read of people buying a reader and software, do I need this? Is software needed to change settings if needed? Thanks for any help. Rod

The machine has a smartcard that holds the data regarding your use of the machine, etc. You need the card reader and software to read the data on the card. The settings can be changed from the main machine controls.

Software is an optional extra for any machine that I know of.

Some of us are right into daily accessing the data on the machines. It is not essential to successful therapy but it achieves 2 things for those of us that access & look at it

1) More or less allows you to become your own therapist

2) Gives us something to do beyond just sucking air

It adds a bit of expense and requires some learning and fiddling on your PC. I think it is fair to say that a slowly increasing number of people are doing this.

Thats right ROD, if you like looking at your data, and want to tweek your settings, software and the card reader are the way to go. You can take your card to your doc every month or so, but I prefer to do my own thing. Software about 100.00, card reader 30.00
