Well, I guess I now qualify as an "old fart". But if you note from my equipment line, I've used xPAP therapy for almost 20 years at this point. So, I was younger than you when diagnosed. And I'm pretty certain I had sleep apnea since my teen years.Gekko wrote:... I was wondering if there were any younger people on here using CPAP treatment. ... I'm 36 ...
I'ld love to tell you that "you get used to it". Oh,you do. Don't get me wrong. It's amazing to what we can adjust.
The fact that you get your life back is a great thing. That is what keeps me using it. That and the fact that I sort of like to breathe. Call me picky, but I do like to do that from time to time.
But the fact that I have to wrestle with my machine and mask every night ... Aaarrrrrggghhhhh! It can be very frustrating. And then there are those nights I put it on and have no problems. What a Godsend those nights can be!
It is a big deal. But so are the glasses that I wear every day. Since I was five years old, I've worn glasses. I put up with all sorts of grief from kids my age as I was growing up. Due to my vision problems contact lenses are not an option for me. In a lot of ways this is easier than wearing glasses. No one else needs to see me using it.
But yeah. It is daunting. The rewards are worth it. That's especially true if you think of family and friends. But you are perfectly normal to feel a little overwhelmed.
