ears popping

Post by chaser3968 » Thu Oct 13, 2005 5:37 pm

Hi. I have a quick question. I have been using CPAP for 3 nights and when it is full blast which is 12 my ears pop like I am a high altitude. Sometimes they unpop right away and others it takes a while. Is there anything I can do about this or do i need to talk to my Dr.? Any advice sure would be appreciated. THANK YOU!!

Cathy,

I am no doctor, and don't claim to be, but it happens to me, too, from time to time. I think it's just from the pressure being blown into our heads and needing an outlet. If it causes pain, then I'd be concerned and speak to your docotr. But chances are you will get used to it and a quick swallow might help the situation. Good luck with your therapy.

I find that this happens more when I have allergies going and have fluid behind my ears. A Benadryl fixes it right up.

My ears pop every time I swallow with my mask on. I have been meaning to ask MD about that but never think at the right time.

Thank you so much for you answers. I was afraid I wasnt going to be able to wear my mask for some reason for my ears. Thank you now I know it isnt serious. I will try a benadry tonight because my allergic asthma is acting up. again thank you.

An interesting observation.

Over the past few months I have been using my f/f mask at 14 (sometimes 15) cms.

I have swapped gear last night & am now using my Activa mask . The 1st thing I noticed (to my surprise) was that going from the f/f mask to the activa I was getting ear pops. Each time I breathed in I could feel pressure in my ears ?.

Don't quite know yet what to make of this (could be other reasons why this showed up last night) but can state they were not happeing while I used my f/f mask.

Cheers

I find my ears pop when I swallow with my head on my pillow, but if I lift my head slightly off my pillow before I swallow, my ears don't pop.

Dunno why.
