I guess my Louisanna and Mississippi heritage is showing, but only a little bit!

A Candian boy transplanted to the US (and FL isn't South, the South is North of us) really confused the test. This is what it reported:

55% General American English
25% Yankee
15% Upper Midwestern
5% Midwestern
0% Dixie

Question #10 was missing a choice I'd have made: "Bird course".

Michigan born and raised - this seemed to match perfectly.

Your Linguistic Profile:
70% General American English
25% Upper Midwestern
5% Midwestern
0% Dixie
0% Yankee

Having a positive attitude makes a huge difference in CPAP therapy - and vice versa!

Dat lyin' damn test is totally bogus!

45% General American English
35% Dixie
10% Upper Midwestern
5% Midwestern
5% Yankee

#1. It don' say nothin' bout my little Cajun accent
#2. It done say I got a 5% Yankee part to my speakin'!

Outrageous! Bogus!

But fun.

TXCajun... I have been dying to ask you this question. So are you a "coon ass". My grandfather is from Breaux Bridge, LA (crawfish capital of the world) and he sure is!

Teri, actually, I am Cajun on both my mother and father's side, and have traced my heritage all the way back through Nova Scotia (Acadia) and into France. I consider the term "Coonass" to be a very negative and derogatory term, actually. Not quite fighting words, but close!

I was born and raised in the swamps of SW Louisiana in a little town called Welsh, which is 22 miles east of Lake Charles. My mother still lives there (still taking care of herself at the age of 81, including making it through hurricane Rita with no problems).

Fortunately, I've got a pretty thick skin....and have been called LOTS worse than coonass! LOL

This therapy WORKS!!! (an' I don' care what no damn lyin', incomplete survey says bout my way of speakin' )

TXCajun,
I am very sorry if the term hurt your feeling, it was truly not my intentions. In our family we use this term and all it is not considered derogatory at all. I didn't mean any disrespect at all to you or your family.
