beeping sounds-beep beep beep

I keep getting woken up by 3 consecutive beeps while using my auto spirit cpap and mirage mask - is this due to air leaks?

I'm not familiar with your CPAP...(Why not register and list your exact model). It sounds like a leak alarm.

AutoSet Spirit is ResMed's range, either S8 or S9. On the S8 I used to get an alert if I left my mask off (sufficient leak rate) for 10 seconds, although that was a long constant beep not three consecutive beeps. I don't get this on the S9. I suspect it's probably a mask / leak alarm you're hearing.

Do the beeps stop? Or do you have to power off the machine and back on?

I think I got 3 beeps on my S8 AutoSet (similar to the Spirit I think)...I'd somehow managed to disconnect the hose from my mask.
