Wader,
my appologies but I guess turned it into one

Your input was just plain commonsense !

PS re your Escape - did Kris F take a while to deliver

If he did, did he tell you about his wife's erratic pregnancy then his sister having twins etc: etc: etc:

If the above makes no sense, please write it of as the ramblings of an old man deprived of decent sleep

Is the 420E just as quiet WITHOUT the humidifier?
I find that my 420E is not as quiet WITHOUT the humidifier so, I always have the humidifier attached when I use the machine. I suspect that the humidifier somehow muffles sound --> The amount of water in the humidifier tank does not seem to make a difference, just having the tank in place seems to be enough to block any sound that finds its' way up the hose.

DSM, It all makes sense to me... I didn't get those excuses but I got my share in the month +/- it took to get my shipment... VERY cheap prices though.

BTW...no need to appologize... I like contests.
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

I mentioned the 420e originally (look up ... way up) not as a recommendation for that model but because my travel experience with it can be generalized to the 420g which Wader suggested.
Also many folk are recommending the PB420 without apparently ever having tried an S8
I can only comment on what I've used. The 420 machines work well for travel IMO. Others seem to agree. Maybe the S8 will work as well or even better, but I wouldn't know.
Will Succeed, did word his post in a way that offered his 'opinion' on the value to him of his PB420E whereas others are making statements of fact without ever having used an S8. I can understand people expressing opinions on their satisfaction with their PB420 machines.
It is a fact that I find the 420 (e for me) to be an excellent travel machine.

If I said it was better than <name of some other machine> that would be opinion.

What's up with you today? I'm usually the one who gets chewed out for having an opinion and you are usually Mr. Nice.

I don't think you are being argumentative at all -you have just offered your opinion. I'm interested in hearing what you think.

Not sure. Maybe I'm just gearing up for a go-round with a certain lawyer. Just thinking about it and I can feel my BP climbing!

I think that processing camera sensor data in the digital domain and subdividing the bandwidth will allow me to extract and enhance feature and defect detail in the images in a way we've never been able to do before with almost no imapact on inspection time.

Or maybe that isn't what you were asking for.

I travel so often that I just keep a PB 420G stuffed away in my suitcase. You can pick one up for less than $300--it's a PERFECT travel machine. (Shoot, I imagine the $300 is cheaper than your deductible. Just bypass your insurance company).

My 420G has accompanied me to throughout four continents and it works perfectly. For the money it would be tough to find a better travel machine.

That's a great excuse that I've been known to use. Probably the best thing about having sleep apnea is we can always blame our mood, forgetfulness, etc. on it!

DSM,

In response to your question about voltage, the power cord for the 420 only requires an adapter for most countries. The cord you have should work fine througout most of the world, you just need an adapter that make the prongs fit into the outlet. If you look on the transformer on the cord, it will tell you what kind of power it can handle. I've used mine in far flug places as Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Australia, Japan, several European and African countries, and never had a problem.

Humidifiers can be an issue, however. I had a FP humidifier, and now have the PB humidifier made for the 420 series. Both devices require a transformer. Most global business hotels will have them. They are big and very heavy--too heavy to travel with. You need to have a good transformer too. I tried a small model I found at the Bangkok airport and I nearly started my hotel room on fire when I was on my honeymoon in Laos when the transformer exploded. Also, I had to try and find a fuse for my PB humidifier in Mozambique--and that was an adventure. If you travel internationally, be sure to have fuses for your machines with you.

Hope this helps.
