EPR with EasyBreathe, explained by ResMed

Includes images, makes things very clear:

EPR Inhale
EPR Inhale is a feature that further customises EPR to suit
individual breathing patterns. The default inhale setting is
Medium, which corresponds to the Easy-Breathe waveform
setting. However, patients may prefer the Fast inhale setting
which is similar to the traditional EPR waveform.

Have they tweaked the EPR and what is described here valid for their older models, eg S8 or only the newer S9 models?

The bottom lines, literally. My empahsis:
S8 is a trademark of ResMed Ltd. © 2008 ResMed Ltd. Specifications may change without notice. 1012764/2 08 09

I believe at that point S9 was past being a glint in an engineer's eye, but far from birth yet.

Definitely refers to the S8 II, those machines that are described as "EPR with EasyBreathe", and have a "Fast /Medium" option for EPR inhale..

Thanks! I have wondered about the medium and fast setting but both S8 or S9 clinician manuals show the setting options but don't say anything about the differences.

Ozij,

What I know is that the motor/blower in the S8 II, had a soft outer casing to the fan motor assembly & when the fan was turned on this 'airbag case' would inflate. They completely redesigned the physical aspect of the the blower/motor for the S9. It now uses a hard case rather than the inflatable case used in the S8 II models. I think also, that they reshaped the fans. They said it helped make it even quieter.

Both the S8 II & S9 use a dual impeller dual stage blower/motor.

Cheers
