Different masks different pressures?

Post by Imacpaper » Tue Mar 23, 2010 5:59 pm

For the last week I switched to my hybrid mask from my optilife. I'm frustrated with the results. My machine is set at 10cm/13cm.

With the Optilife my numbers are good and my 90% is around 11. With the hybrid my snores are much higher, my AHIs are higher and and my 90% is 12 and sometimes 13.

I do get a few leaks with the hybrid but looking at the time with out leaks my snores are higher and so are my HIs. If I remember my science right the pressure should be the same through both masks. Then why does it seem that the pressure in the hybrid is less effective then the pressure in the Optilife?

This is a good question. I noticed the same thing when I switched from my Swift to my new Quattro. I get the same AHI with the Quattro at a lower pressure (9 vs 11). Maybe it's the leakage. I have 0 leakage many nights with the Quattro, believe it or not. I never achieved that with the Swift.

Glad I'm not crazy. So are full face masks less efficient than nasals?

Less effiient? Nah. I wouldn't say that.

When I switched from my Simplicity simple nasal cushion to the OptiLife nasal cradle cushion it felt like I also upped my pressure by a cm or 2.

And when I switched from my Simplicity simple nasal cushion to the ProBasics Zzz-Mask full face it also felt like I upped my pressure a couple of cms.

Yet switching from the Simplicity simple nasal cushion to the Swift LT gave no sensaton of a higher or lower pressure. Go figger.
