How did you connect it around the hose?
I am using a V stitch crochet- so I thought I would leave it flat, then wrap it around and use ribbon to tie it. That way I could untie it and easily take the hose out each week to wash it.
Any other way you can think of? I thought about having my Mom sew it when I am done, but that seems to make things a lot more complicated when I try to insert and remove the hose.

I didn't make my own cover, the one I bought has velcro-type things on the end allowing me to snug down the ends of the tube around my hose. I would imagine you can also thread a string/ribbon through the crochet to tie it snug.Jaylee wrote:How did you connect it around the hose?

Why not make a tube? The mask comes off the hose easily (especially at night when you turn over too fast or the cat is on it). Then you can just slip it on like panty hose.

But I can get my Mom to sew it together and then make a tube. I think that will be hard to get on and off though. I can try both ways and see what works.Jaylee wrote:I can only make squares and rectangles I can't do anything fancy.BlackSpinner wrote:Why not make a tube? It won't be too hard to get on if you slip a plastic bag over the end of the hose -- it'll slip right through!

Re: Question for those who crocheted or knitted their hose cover
I knitted mine, Jaylee. I think you've seen a photo of it on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47017&p=423447. There are several other examples of homemade hose covers there as well.
I knitted a LONG rectangle and then just stitched it closed with yard, to make a tube. Let me just suggest, from experience, not to make the diameter too small. Mine's a bit snugger that I would like, and even with the plastic bag on the end it does take some effort to put it on. If I had it to do over again, I'd make it a bit wider so it'd be easier to pull on.
Have fun with your project!

To make a crocheted tubeJaylee wrote: I can only make squares and rectangles I can't do anything fancy.
1) make a chain a little longer then the hose is around.
2) connect the tail to the 3rd chain from the hook
3) single crochet into the first stitch of the tail and keep on until you are at the first one again, keep going once more around. Change to double crochet and keep going around the spiral until the lentgh is good.
4) do 2 rounds of single and finish off
Note after you have done a couple of rounds of double try it out on the hose, you may have to adjust your number of stitches. If it is to small just frog it and start again with more stitches, if it is much to big just make it smaller by skipping the occasional stitch.
single - stick hook through the loop, wrap 7 pull through loop, wrap and pull through all loops
double - wrap hook, stick through loop, wrap and pull through loop ( 3 stitches on hook), wrap and pull through 2, wrap and pull through all
If you are really broke, go to the salvation army or good will and find a sweater that can be unraveled. Note if the edges are machine sewn it can't be unraveled successfully.
Note : Frog = rip it rip it rip it out
