HOW to CHANGE S7 TO APAP

Post by Severeena » Fri Oct 07, 2005 7:28 pm

If there is a way to change the S7 from CPAP to APAP, why can't we do this ourselves. There should be somether we can read up on to change this.

Do you need a doctor's script to change the S7 and if so, will Medicare who is renting the machine for me pay for it.

First off you need the S7 "Elite" Secondly it will cost $289 from cpap.com so if you were considering buying it from a local DME you would be better off just buying the new S8 auto online.

for the "Elite" upgrade, See below:

Wader has quite rightly pointed out that the cost of the upgrade is prohibitive (unless someone else pays for it )

You can buy, via some online auctions, a near new Spirit for less than, or a bit above, the software upgrade price.

Cheers

Yea you are. But the Resmed has the only model that can be changed into a auto as I know.

Why can't the lightweight be deprogramed? This way it would be an auto pap.

Where can you buy the APAP machines at online auctions. I just checked eBay and you are not allowed to auction off CPAP or APAP machines.

The lightweight cannot be converted to an auto.

For purchasing cpap equipment by auction...see Yahoo Auctions, eBay will not allow cpaps to be sold. Even if you see some listed, the listing will most likely be cancelled... even if it has already ended and you have paid for your winnings.

Severeena, try yahoo auctions they haven't removed cpap items yet. Also, try doing searches for medmarketplace. And, just try searches for used cpap, I'm sure you'll turn up a few.

They show nothing about CPAP or APAP machines on Yahoo AUction either.

There should be a way of changing the Lightweight to an APAP

I just checked and there are cpaps for sale on yahoo. There are 4 pages of cpap stuff. The machines are mixed in with masks, humidifiers, etc, and some don't have photos.

Click on this:

Yahoo! Auctions Search CPAP

And you're right. There SHOULD be a way of changing the Lightweight to an APAP, but there isn't.

The S7 Elite already has the additional sensors and hardware required for a auto CPAP to work since it already records the events. The Elite to Auto upgrade involves loading the entire operating system to the Elite to convert it to auto. My S7 Spirit Reslink package also did contain a new OS to upload to the spirit in case the OS on the Spirit is back level and takes 40mins to perform. None of the other companies like Respionics or Puritian Bennett even have that option on any of their devices we know off.
