I cannot, in good conscience, even comment on that.

But be assured I hope it goes well for you.

It sounds like you are dealing with the situation with logic. And it sounds like your doc is, too. Please keep being the fighter that you are!

M, I'm going to go way out on the limb here.....

Maybe, it's time to kick the DME/RT out of the drivers set,
and you slide behind the wheel.
Why not just worry about you and what's best for you.

You're already doing it. You have an email contact w/your doc now.
You know as much, or more than they do about these machines and
you can guess as well as they or the doc can.

Become your own best therapist.
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

This is the doc who had never heard of AVAPS now suggesting how a patient should set one up for herself?

I cannot, in good conscience, even comment on that.

But be assured I hope it goes well for you.

An RT! an RT! my kingdom for an experienced RT!
All of the really good and experienced RT's are working in hospitals in intensive care units...I work with many very exceptional ones. Do you get where I'm headed with this conversation about the majority of RT's that work for DME's?

Then in regards to where
in the other thread Madalot wrote:But if you have any suggestions for questions I should ask, please lay them on me!
all my suggestions for questions were related to "the numbers game", so I guess I'll just sit here and shut up (hard as that may be to believe).

Madalot wrote:But another thing that occurred to me -- when my RT came out two weeks ago to change the vent to AVAPS, she mentioned that she was supposed to get me to sign a checklist that is required. She said she would bring it by or have it ready for me to sign the next time I came in. She hasn't mentioned it since that day.
Madalot,
The piece of paper the RT wants you to sign is probably a release that will get them paid by your insurance, or an indemnity waiver, or both, all garbled in with some goofy questions about how you're feeling to misdirect the form's true intentions. Be sure you know what the form is really for before you sign ANYTHING. Just personal opinion of course...

Just to keep things in perspective, it might be worth the time to make a list of all the settings in the machine and their values. Perhaps a spareadsheet would work best for this. This document could be used by the doctor and yourself to ensure that there are no miscommunications.

In that way, if all settings are listed, the doctor would have the opportunity to review and make sure that something wasn't overlooked in the discussion.

Keep up the good work. It sounds as if you at least know understand what is trying to be done and can focus on the objective.
