Congrats, Melissa! Image

I remember the first time I had a dream after starting therapy, and it was a revelation for me, too. "Outsiders" don't get what the big deal is, but all of us here can relate to your delight in having dreams again.

You've made a lot of progress with your therapy in a very short time, and I wish you continued success and many sweet dreams to come. You GO, girl!
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Hello everyone!

I've been on my Vpap for almost three months now, 100% compliant, have good numbers, and feel about the same as I did before therapy. That's not a bad thing, as I felt fine before I was diagnosed, but a sleep study was recommended due to low oxygen levels and having a hard time breathing when I had anasthesia for gall bladder surgery. I knew I snored and I'm very overweight so I wasn't surprised with the diagnosis. Anyway, I haven't noticed any significant changes, but this post reminded me that I am definitely having a LOT more dreams that I remember. A LOT LOT LOT!

I understand that this is a good sign, but can you tell me why? I gather it means that I'm sleeping better, but what else does it mean?

Thank you!

Rebecca

Being a total noob to the scene. From what I have read from others when you are dreasming you are deep in the rem sleep phase which is a very healthy place to be. I think the changes are going to be suttle and gradual. That you may think the changes are insignifigant but the impact on health greater than imagined. I guess time will tell for me on that. I have been reading a lot of positive comments on how much healthier folks have been since they were on this therapy. I hope that proves true for me. I am hard pressed to see how it can not be if you are getting more rest.

Last night, I thought I was hearing the radio in my mask,
or through the hose or something.
I thought, it couldn't be coming through my mask...
it was coming from outside. So, I got up and went outside.
It was more clear, but still sort of far away.
I walked down the street til it was very clear.
It was coming from the Monkey Butt Piano Lounge.
It was the sound of a small combo, so I walked inside.

On a small stage, was DSM, in an astronaut suit,
playing an acoustic, stand-up bass.
Perched on a bar stool, next to him, was JNK, on guitar.
Spanking the ivories of a wornout baby grand,
the name sake of the place.....well,
through the blue, smokey haze, I couldn't make out a face.
All this gyrating to the swish-swish-swish of a brush on a snare
and the low thud of an old, beatup bass.

I just stood there in total disbelief.

Then, I slowly began to realize that the swish-swish-swish,
was the hiss of a small leak, and the slow, steady rhythm,
was the beat of my heart.

This wasn't coming through my mask or hose,
it wasn't coming from down the street,
it was coming from the deep recess,
of a brain,
fast,
fast,
asleep.

Carbonman, I'm not sure whether to be in awe of your brain, worried for it, or just plain run for the hills!

Carbonman, I wish you were in my creative writing class so I could be assured of having something good to read, but then you dont need a class.

Re the dreams..I have been on the hose since the end of December and have yet to have (or remember?) a dream. I wish that would happen, but new machine is on the way and perhaps then, when I can actually see what's going on with my sleep, it will have a chance of happening.

Congratulations on the dream and memory. In the nearly two years I've been on the hose (can it really be that long ), I'm aware of many, many dreams. I do not remember any of them, but I am aware that I am dreaming. In the years before the hose I don't remember having any dreams. So keep on keeping on and many more dreams.
