Sleep Apnea Action Handbook

Post by Joe50 » Fri Mar 05, 2010 5:50 am

I stumbled on the PDF while doing other research and and when I did a search here it was posted way back in 2006 and 2007. It still seems relavant and I thought it might help someone just starting out. It was put out by that country just North of us that beat us for the Gold medal in Hockey at the Olympics. Go Canadia

Thanks for sharing this! I printed it out and am giving it to my Partner to read. There are some things in there that will help with our relationship and understanding this condition. Good Find!!

I also printed it out and put it into what I call my "Book of life" which is really just a big binder that has all my medical records, diet stuff, and pretty much anything pertaining to me that someone might need to see in case of emergency.
I still keep it all in the computer but the book is more comforting for some reason.

I live it that country north of you - the one that beat the US for the Gold medal in hockey at the Olympics!!! Go Canada!!

I got that booklet soon after I was diagnosed and it was really helpful to me when I was just getting started. I think the one in the link (if it is 2006 or 2007) is an updated one of the one I have somewhere around here!

I think it is a really helpful booklet for new cpap users and others as well.

Thanks for the great find Joe50, found this site in February and have found it a place of immense knowledge with good advice.

Quickly read the handbook and had a question it talked about CPAP users are not getting up to go to the bathroom at night. Have been on CPAP less than a month but realized I was not getting up during the night to go to the bathroom. I know the air pressure has not made my bladder larger, so what happened?

What happens is your body slows down allowing you to rest and rebuild, which slows down your kidney function and does not produce urine as quickly.

In looking back I know my father had undiagnosed sleep apnea and he suffered greatly for it. I WILL NOT go through that. Using a cpap is easy compared to that.
