I was going to say they cover 100% as I have no expenses whatsoever. However, I also have secondary insurance and they may cover the 20% mentioned in the previous post.

Hi,
I have Medi/Medi, and everything is covered.
What I am having to do is go one month, and there is a chip inside.
I have to mail it back to my DME company, and then they see what
amount of time I am using my Cpap.

In order for it to be approved one has to be using it daily, and over
4 hours daily, otherwise they will not may.

Like I wouldn't wear it after all I had to go through to just get my
doc to listen to me, and finally order the sleep study, and then to
find out I had "Central Apnea, obstructive, and hypoapnea?

I am new at all of this so if hypoapnea means the same as something else
let me know.

Debbie

My understanding was that you have to been on Disability for two years BEFORE you can get Medicare.

If she needs to POOP (Pay Out Of Pocket) search this forum for tips about buying from CL or use cpapauction.com run by the fine folks here and cpap.com

Good Luck

I must have been lucky as I got both of them at the same time.

All i know is that when she got approved last week her lawyer gave her a letter to give to her doctor that says she is approved for both. We ask her if she was sure she was covered with the medicare the lawyer said "if she fell over right now she would be covered" so i guess we will see what happens....

As stated above Medicare pays part and your supplemental policy pays the rest.
Medicare pays to rent the machine for something over a year (maybe 14 months?) and then the machine is considered bought. Since so many people can't adjust and stop using the machine this was Medicares attempt to cut costs.

Something is different no doubt. I was thinking it might be age but now I am wondering if it is either the degree of disability or financial need? But that doesn't sound right.

I doubt it is just having a lawyer. I know the lawyer takes a good portion of what you have coming from any delay in payments.

So the lawyer is almost motivated to cause delay - it could have been 2yrs for the wait - ha that's it. How long did sis wait? Bet it was over the 2yr waiting period.

Yes it was about 2 years, and she had been turned down by SS 3 or 4 times. The lawyer gets 30% but after being turned down starting in 2004 the lawyer seemed to be the only way to get it to go through. I am just happy for her it is finally done. we live in Georgia, i dont know if different states handle things different.....

Everyone here in the Georgia that i know who have been approved have had to get a lawyer to get it. I has been a long hard fight to get it! And they are only giving her back pay to 2007. That was when we got the lawyer working on it......

I am just grateful I didn't have to do that, or we don't in California.

If your doctor fills out the paperwork, and you go see them for the
interview, you are usually approved, and get all the backpay from
the first day it was filed.

We do have some here in CA that do have to get a lawyer, but they
are usually not disabled, and just don't have jobs. I did see one
girl who got SSI, and then ater that started working! I just get
angry when I see that sort of thing. I would give anything to
be able to work,

I am so glad you got it!

Debbie
