More Sandman Auto Questions

Post by The Dreamer » Fri Feb 26, 2010 8:57 pm

HI I’m back with more questions, thanks to all that replied to my last post.

1. I noticed on my Sandman Auto, in the setting menu, it says Patient Circuit 1M80+H20 what does these
numbers mean ?

2. Also it says Max. P. On Apnea 11.0 cm H20, My cpap setting are 11cm Min. & 20cm Max. shouldn’t the
Max. P. On Apnea 11.0 cm H20 be set higher than my Min. set pressure?

Thanks Ron

That is explained in the manual. They mean your are using a hose 1 Meter and 80 cms long, and you have an itegrated humidifier (H20 is the chemical designataion of water).

Not at all. I would not touch that parameter unless I was very very very sure it needs changing -- and the only reason to change it is if I was getting many obstructive apneas in the pressure range I was at.
Since apneas identified by the Sandman as obstructive may actually be central, I would make that change carefully -- unless I had titration info that I needed much higher pressure to resolve my apneas. If that were the case, I would set Maximum pressure in response to apnea at the pressure in my Rx --

Does Max. P. On Apnea 11.0 cm H20 mean that the cpap will not go above 11cm even thou it's set at 20cm for the Max.?
my old cpap was set 11cm Min. to 20cm Max. and would go sometimes up to 18cm

Your APAP will go higher than 11 if you snore.
Your APAP will go higher than 11 if you have flow limited breathing.

With the command set at 11, your APAP will not go higher than 11 if it have an apnea.
What was your titrated pressure?

O.

I'm not for sure, Here is what the sleep study paper says, CPAP was started at 4cm of H2O and increased to an optimal level of 20cms H2O
The best I can tell by the CPAP Data that 16cm took care of every thing

I was sent home at first with a cpap set at 4cm min. and 20cm max. then later they had it set to 11cm min. and 20cm max.

Ron, I think we have to got back to basics:

This is what you said in your first post:
The Dreamer wrote:Hi my name is Ron

I have been using a cpap for about 14 years or so, I just received a new Sandman Auto by UPS today. And I have a question that I sure could use some help with.

My pressure is set at 11cm Min. and 20cm Max.

My question is this, when I breathe in the cpap makes a high pitch sound, and when I breath out it makes a lower pitch sound, is this normal , for the Sandman Auto cpap?

The old REMstar Auto I’ve been using didn’t do that.

I just wondered if this is normal before I send it back.

Thanks Ron

This is your latest:

When is the study from?
When did they make the change and what was it based on?
What were you your settings on the old Remstar Auto?
Who ordered the Sandman?
The best I can tell by the CPAP Data that 16cm took care of every thing
Which CPAP data is this?
How many nights is it based on?
