Passover Humidifier
Sounds like a great idea, but does it supply enough humidity?
In theory it wouldn't cause "rain out" condensation either.

Re: Passover Humidifier
I used the LX Oasis, which is not made anymore, for ten years and it worked very well. However, it all depends on your individual circumstances -- how dry the air is in your home, how much humidity you need because of your apnea or related conditions, the cpap machine you use, etc. Your doctor or respiratory therapist or nurse should be able to help you decide.
Good luck.

Re: Passover Humidifier
There are specific models of "passover" humidifiers.
However, if you have a heated humidifier and just don't turn on the heat, you will have essentially the same thing. The air "passes over" the water and picks up some water vapor.
I've been using it (no heat) since I started therapy and it's worked well for me.

Re: Passover Humidifier
Passover mode works well for me. In fact, too much humidity causes my asthma to trigger an attack.
In the summer I have found I don't even need passover mode.

Dear Friends,
As someone who celebrates Passover, and knows that they are forever coming out with products to use on Passover, (we have to use dishes that we only eat off of on Passover, some people even have an extra dishwasher to use just on Passover, or even a 2nd kitchen for Passover), I had assumed that this humidifier was supposed to be an extra one used only at Passover time. They even have Kosher for Passover toothpaste! All my food has to be marked kosher for passover too. So, I just thought that this humidifier was just one more item to use for the 8 days of Passover.

Re: Passover Humidifier
I would think, but I don't know, that a Passover humidifier would provide more surface area and humidify better than a "heated" one with no heat.
Maybe that's a manf question.
I use a home humidifier during the winter, so a Passover might be best.
NewJerseyGirl - Demo the Passover humidifier at the Seder. That will go over good..huh?

Re: Passover Humidifier
I live in the dessert and have had a passive humidifier since day one. At first I thought to buy a heated device. But I am having none of the rainout problems frequently associated with a heated device, and appreciate filling it just once a week not daily often required for a heated device. While somewhat peripheral to the humidifier conversation the other night when too lazy to clean the humidifier I found that the noise at my mask was much increased without it. Needless to say I cleaned the humidifier attached it and went to sleep. Also recognize the Devilbiss 9100D passover device has a highly baffled large reservoir which likely contributes significantly to the noise attenuation characteristics. The inside looks like a muffler. I often suffer from nasal congestion and understand that moisture can aggravate that condition, so for now I presume I'm getting enough moisture and not too much. I would like to here from those who have used both types.

Dear allwxrider,
Yes, wouldn't it be lovely to invite everyone to the seder and demonstrate my new "Passover Humidifier" on my cpap? Certainly would be memorable.
Warmly,
Jersey Girl

I thought that I was the only user of the Devilbiss 9100D passover device, now I am not alone!

Re: Passover Humidifier
When you use a Passover Humidifier, is that night different from all other nights??
Does it make a difference what position you use for "reclining"??
And is a Passover Humidifier "sufficient" (Dayenu)??

Re: Passover Humidifier
I am one of those fortunate enough to not be bothered with allergies or most other sinus problems, however, I *must* have a lot of humidity with my cpap. If I do not get enough moisture my sinus membranes dry out crack and bleed. With the humidifier I use now I must inhale from one to two cups of water per night.

In looking back I know my father had undiagnosed sleep apnea and he suffered greatly for it. I WILL NOT go through that. Using a cpap is easy compared to that.
