helpppp

Post by sleepylizzy » Tue Feb 23, 2010 11:29 pm

hi all,
i purchased a REMstarAuto M Series Machine then moved to another state, the local person that deals with CPAP is very rude and has no people skills. and i will not go back to see him. so now im stuck, i need to know how to adjust the settings as when i put the mask on at nite,i feel like im suffocating and that there is no air!!!Ive checked the hose to make sure all is ok and there is no leaks or blockages. Hence ive not used the machine in a lil while now. Im waking up with severe headaches as well. (although i know that is because im not using the machine)Ive looked at the book to try and see if i can adjust the settings, but it comes up that the CFLEX is locked???? Can anyone tell me what that means. And any other ideas??? I would appreciate any help

If you only have the user manual the Provider Quick Setup Guide may be of help: http://www.apneaboard.com/manuals20/REM ... 0Guide.pdf

What type of mask do you use? I use dual-wall Nasal Pillows (Swift LT), and the inner pillow can collapse back, causing greatly reduced airflow. If you use Nasal PIllows, take a look and make sure both the inner and outer pillows are "pointing out".

PS If you fill in your equipment in your profile, we'll know what you use...

First question - Does your machine have a ramp feature? Is it turned on?

The ramp is a user comfort feature that starts the pressure low and slowly builds up the pressure over a predetermined time. It allows people to relax and hopefully fall asleep before full pressure is delivered. If you are using the ramp, it may be set too low and makes you feel as if you are not getting enought air. Your manual should tell you how to set the ramp starting pressure and the ramp duration time. Typically starting ramp pressures are set at 4 cm. which most of us choke and hate. You can set it higher or turn it off. Many of us have turned off the ramp entirely as we are used to our normal pressures.

It seems like your pressure, or minimum pressure or ramp, may be set too low.

Did you get the Clinician's setup manual from the site posted earlier here?

If not, PM me with your email address and i can send it to you.
