Does anyone have any experience with it? It was just prescribed, 5 mg in the AM and 5 at night, for a voiding problem that cropped up about a month ago. One of the possible side effects is dyspnea -difficulty breathing - not apnea. My apnea is complex central and severe and I sometimes need ambien. Two other possible side effects are drowsiness and fatigue. I am terribly fatigued due to the apnea, a worsening neurological problem, and a ton of drugs. One doctor asked me a couple months ago, "Why are you still awake?" There are other documented side effects, but not relevant here. I cannot tolerate LDOPA-CDOPA, Clonazepam, or Gabapentin.
I am taking Keppra, Lamictal and phenobarb for epilepsy, Prilosec for GERD, Celexa for depression, Lorazepam for anxiety, terazosin for hypertension and BPH. The urologist said he doesn't think it's my prostate. He thinks it's a problem withe soft muscle leading from my bladder that is next to or near the prostate. He wants to do an ultrasound of my kidneys. I'm going to do that and talk to him about a lower dose of of Ditropan. I haven't started it, yet, because it's being mailed to me.
Ditropan, aka oxybutynin

Re: Ditropan, aka oxybutynin
For a long time I took oxybutynin and didn't see any difference. Make sure that the scans are good and if necessary get a second opinion before depending on meds to help long term.
My last two pregnancies were not easy and then I developed some female problems. I did not want any unnecessary surgery and wouldn't agree to do anything drastic such as surgery. I was able to put off surgery for approximately 10 years. Finally, without any other alternatives I agreed and was told that since my bladder was affected, as well, they would do some additonal testing prior to the surgery. Tests were performed and was told that while I was undergoing the surgery for my other problem, that my bladder would be repaired and be as good as new. Unfortunately, my bladder had folded upon itself and so I have permanent nerve damage and so meds are not effective. I am lucky in that I have bladder control, but have to go frequently (not unusual for me to go every hour or so).
