You are probably right. I'll definitely keep this in mind. I guess from my point of view, I've seen so much of this stuff on other boards and even when people try to use the voice of reason to get it stop, it just keeps going on. A person that truly wants to participate on a board such as this really has no choice but to ignore the antics. I just hate to see it going on.carbonman wrote:jnk wrote: A lot of stuff that happens to be said in this forum is helpful. A lot of what is said here is not. Madalot, these two are a couple of light weights compared
to some that have passed through here.
They still have the heavy gloves and headgear on.
Some that have come through here were real street brawlers.
Their IP addes got blocked. There was some really ugly stuff posted.
You have to learn to sort of speed read some of these replies
and if something catches your eye, go for the detail.
Some threads you just pass on by.
I have to agree w/JNK and I hate it when that happens,
and it happens more than I'll ever admit......

It's a place where there's a lot more good than anything else.

I just wish the 2 of you would take your personal personality clash off the board! Go to PMs or emails.
I, for one, don't want to see you personal, childish bickering here on this board.
If you diagree- fine -disagree! We can all do that in a grownup manner.
This kind of nonsense has no place here and both of you should know that.

Re: Final Peace Offering to Link
I thought about disagreeing that some of you disagreed... but figured the laughing smirk (showing how silly it all can get) would not translate well into the written word. My friends and I will use that tactic when we are together and the discussion gets heated. Silliness is a valuable tool to remind ourselvs of just how foolish we can be.
In fact this is one of the best forums in which I have participated over the years as I dealth with various health issues. Sometimes we all (myself included) have chance to regret how we behave. It's normal. As long as it does not continue (and it appears to have died down) then accepting that others sometimes do exactly what I do makes it easier to accept.
'Cause Lord only knows that I often do and say things I regret. It happens. I need to remember that when I see others doing the same.
Fortunately, there's so much more here that I can readily ignore those issues, forgive them for being too much like me, and try to do what I can to learn from others and sometimes help others.

Only Kidding!
Obviously, everybody knows that a 130 meter rock, even if it's going 42,927 miles an hour when it hits, won't cause a lot of damage, relatively speaking.

oh muffy dear - here you are using mixed systems --- do you make cupcakes with cups of flour and ml of water?
stick to one and make it METRIC
Re: Final Peace Offering to Link
Well, 19.19 km/s just seem to have the same "impact" as 43,000 miles an hour, if you get my drift.

For those of you who want to calculate how much shovelling it's going to take to fill in the crater left after impact, here's a handy tool:
http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/impacteffect ... s_select=0
However, pay heed to that "Crater Dimensions" value. You may want to be standing back a few feet to take into account possible errors in estimating mass, density, velocity, sudden breeze, or simply having the thing run in on you 'cause God decides to throw a "cutter".

Autopapdude, just think someone should commend you for being a "big" person, willing to forego points, etc., and to bury whatever hatchet was used before. Your postings are always pretty good anyhow, and don't take jabs at people for who they are anyway. Keep up the good work!
