Cleaning water chambers (such as F&P HC325/HC345)

Post by dsm » Sat Oct 01, 2005 5:47 pm

Helpful hint for the day ...

Anyone who is looking for a simple easy way to clean these water chambers or any other brand that doesn't dissasemble, hereis a method that I find works 100%

1) Put 2 table spoons of rice (approx) in a cup
2) add 5 table spoons of water (approx)
(intention is to use enough water that the rice can 'slosh' around freely)
3) pour the mixture into the water chamber
4) put on a good latin beat record & shake-baby-shake

It only takes 1 min of vigorous shaking to clean all traces of deposits from
the inside no matter where they are.

Cheers

DSM,

How bout just putting it on top of my washing machine or touching my vibrator to it. Your way takes too much energy.

Then again, if one uses distilled water, it's a mute point.

Can instant rice and hot water be substituted? Then you could take care of some food preparation at the same time (Yuk!)

I would use crushed ice, or ice cream rock salt instead of the rice, as I wouldn't want any starchy residue in there to "grow things" If you do choose to use rice, I would rinse very very well.

Folks, I know you keep saying distilled water and I started off buying & using distilled but you live in the US & I live in Australia & distilled water is very expensive here, (bottled water can be expensive here), whereas rice, tap water & a good latin CD are all dirt cheap (we have $2 shops everywhere).

Now I must advise those in the mid west who might try to substitute rice with wheat, DON'T DO IT! - if you forget to remove all the wheat I promise you you will have green creepy things growing the full length of your 6' hose & a head of 'corn' (biblical wheat) up your nose in the middle of the night is not pleasant.

Cheers
