A chart showing OSA effects - Part 1

Post by dsm » Mon Feb 01, 2010 9:33 pm

I have a presentation on OSA done by Shahid M. Ahsan, M.D of the Sigma Medical Group.
Below are a few of the charts in it. They are reasonably current & the info very useful.

Willing to post a link or email a copy of the presentation? The first chart is dynamite in explaining why continuing with CPAP therapy is so bloody important!

Why not just post the link, so everyone can read it?

Hi y'all
I originally posted the link but thought better of it. The document is on my own website not the originators & I am becoming increasingly concerned about copyright issues. If it was a matter of a link to his site I would happily post that, but because it is on mine, there may be issues to do with usage.

I'll PM a copy to anyone who asks.

Cheers DSM

To those already requesting - you'll have it in a couple of mins

D

UPDATE: Thanks to Muffy the original is now available from the originator's website

While following up on one of the associated side effects (or co-morbidities) of OSA/CA I came across these two
medical papers on Chronic Hypoventilation which relates to a patient who does not clear out their blood CO2 well
enough in normal breathing.

The 1st paper discusses the problem as Hypoventilation Syndromes
(note para 6 - Obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS) is another well-known cause of hypoventilation.)

the second covers 'Management of Chronic Hypoventilation'

Have added the below link after finding it in the 1st one above - it offers
an interesting perspective on OSA in general. Certainly an opportunity to
expand ones comprehension ... The para starting with "A sleep-related
disordered breathing (SRDB) continuum has been described and is supported
by research" - is a good read ...
