Shopping cpap accessories online

Post by music001 » Tue Jan 26, 2010 9:57 pm

Hi all

I'm a newbie here. I'm glad that I found this forum as I can found a lot of helpful information and people here . I've just been diagnosed as having sleep apnea and my doctor recommends me to buy a cpap. I've found this http://www.medicaldepartmentstore.com/ online shopping site from the web. And I'm wondering whether to buy a humidifier and a nasal mask from them.

I wonder if anybody here has shopped at the above website and whether this a company that I can trust to buy products from them online.

Thanks a million!! Wish everyone a sweet dream!

I've never used them. Most folks here use https://www.cpap.com and other online suppliers. The inventory of the online supplier you mention appears extensive. However, their costs also appear to be higher. For example, compare

http://www.medicaldepartmentstore.com/B ... ackage.htm

to

https://www.cpap.com/productpage-bundle ... undle.html

The unit from Medical Department Store is about $400 more than same system from CPAP.com.

Other supplies may be comparable, but it is always a good idea to shop around.

Welcome!

I'm a newbie too, and I just ordered my CPAP today.

After a lot of research, I reached the same conclusion as many on this board have...

cpap.com (the sponsors of this site) are a solid company with excellent prices.

They also have a price-match policy.

I peaked at the site that you referenced, and I found several items to be more expensive... for example, I saw a few masks that were about $50 more on the site you listed
than at cpap.com

I ended up phoning in my cpap order, and I am really glad that I did, because after speaking to the sales rep, I decided to change which machine I wanted.

Furthermore, she knew a ton about cpap and gave me lots of really useful and solid advice.

My $0.02 is to look at cpap.com and use them if you like what you see. If you don't go with them, I would still suggest that you go with a company that specialized in just
cpap (or xpap) equipment and supplies... as they will likely be much more knowledgeable than a company that sells many different types of medical products.

Lastly, feel free to check out cpapauction.com, which is an auction site that is hosted by cpap.com -- you may find some nice deals there.

Good luck, and WELCOME!

Sincerely,

-Phil

Thanks so much, John and Phil for the speedy reply. Really appreciate it. Yes, I've also researched in the cpap.com and found they are offering items in the most competitive price among the sites I researched. I also appreciate the comprehensiveness of information they offer.

The problem is I'm living in Hong Kong and the products I want to purchase are from Resmed which cpap.com has a policy that they can't ship them outside the US. Medical Department Store is the only online shop that said they can ship the products to Hong Kong. But I'm not sure whether they can be trusted or is there something 'fishy' there, you see what I mean . So more information will be very much appreciated.

Thanks so much, folks. Hope to hear more from you guys soon!

Ah! A different question. I've not used them, but they are a Better Business Bureau Online member. You can read more about them at the following webpage:

http://www.bbb.org/west-florida/busines ... l-90020402

With an "A-" rating, they are a good company. I have only seen one or two companies that receive anything over an "A-". So, based on just this, it appears they can be trusted.

Hope that helps.

resmed has the policy about no exporting of their products from the US

so I would triple check things to see you really can get what you want sent to you

you might be able to order resmed products from Australia

That is most useful! Thanks so much again, John.

And yes, a very good suggestion, Jules, I'll triple check with them before I place an order.

You guys are so helpful I'm really glad to have found this forum!

Bless you all! Sweet dream!

Hi Rosacer

It's always good to know there's somebody out there with similar experience and have the problems resolved. Thanks a lot for your sharing. I feel more confident to shop with them now.

Thanks John for your help and comprehension.

Here in Canada we need to pay more than double for Resmed masks. I didn't know it was that restriction with Resmed, If I have known that I would never have bought a Resmed machine. I'm not a fortunate person and I have no insurances, so I don't find that funny to pay the big prices they ask for it (ex. a Resmed Activa LT in USA is around $90US here in Ontario is CDN$175 + 15% and you see the CDN is $0.94 USD); the parts are expensives too. You are blessed to have cpap.com

They are about $100 bucks more expensive than CPAP.com. Welcome to the forum.
