Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
See if you have condenstation with this mask on mornings when it has been warmer outside.
It could well be the temperature. That inside temperature of 61 may be a little too cold when it is colder outside.
I up my humidity level a bit when it is very cold outside but then we don't keep our bedroom that cold at night. We just use lighter blankets. I also have a hose cover which help with condensation.

Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
I don't use built in humidifier as our bedroom too cooold. Instead have room humidifier. In the 3+ weeks on cpap only had this condensation twice: once with comfortgel and now last night with easylife. Strange but not an issue.
Btw, just got the usb adaptar and downloaded my data. Getting some events and they appear to coincide with my waking up.....need to study and learn some more and then will post for other's to comment and decipher for a newbie.
Thanks again

Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
Hi dtsm,
I just got the EasyLife, and I've ordered a few things for comfort and the "head wind", which you may be interested in.
We keep our house at 64 degrees at night, so my head/face get cold, and I get migraines when I wake up with light from the windows and air in my eyes. With my Optilife, I've just kept a warm heavy Tshirt over my eyes and head, as the port blew straight out. But with the EasyLife, with the port blowing upward, I'm going to try:
* the onyix eye shield, which cpap.com tells me will fit with the Easy Life, https://www.cpap.com/productpage/eyeeco ... -mask.html
* a Buff head cover, which is a tube-life scarf that keeps my head warm under the headgear and will not get in the way of the wind blowing out the port, https://www.buffwear.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/1_5
* and a headgear clip, so I can get in and out of the mask easily and not have to readjust nightly. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... -Clip.html
I'm really exited about how light the EasyLife is, and I look forward to using it once I receive my "fixes". I'll keep you posted.
Happy Sleeper

Thanks for the links--some interesting products that I didn't know about. Comfort items are SO vital to cpap therapy.

Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
I'm getting fitted for an EasyLife Nasal Mask this afternoon. I'm looking forward to having a nasal mask as an alternative to the full face mask. The Quattro works great for me, but my nasal congestion has been greatly reduced the last month or so and I am hoping that I will be able to use a nasal mask successfully some/much of the time. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Many many thanks for the goodies.happysleeper wrote:Hi dtsm,

Clips:
When I started with easylife (vs my comfortgel), thought not having the clips would be a negative. But cuz they are so light, and easy to 'tighten' for good fit, it's longer an issue for me. You might want to try for a few days before getting clips.
Eye protection:
I already use nightly ointment for dry eyes. And I've gotten used to the upward flow and so far my eyes ok. I might actually try my swim googles since the site you provided is an expensive version of swim googles with a nice strap
We've been sleeping with 61 degrees in our house for years and years, two light down comforters keeps us toaster. Good luck and keep us posted on how they work for you. My next goal is to fall asleep with a mask on - still getting up at midnight to put it on.....
Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
My first night with the EasyLife nasal mask seems to have gone well. It was quite comfortable and it was nice to have a smaller mask on. As with any new mask, it took a few adjustments to get the headgear right. I do miss the quick release straps. I wear my hair in a ponytail at night so it isn't that easy to try to pull the headgear on or off over the hair quickly. Thanks for the link to the quick clips. I have ordered them.
I was wondering if I would breath through my mouth, but since I did not wake up with a dry mouth, I am hoping that means that I didn't, or at least not much. Since I have the PR System 1, I can't look at the daily data. I did check the info on the LCD screen but since it is 7 day/30 day averages..... I plan to give it a few days and then take my card to either the sleep center or DME and get the reports. Since my 30 day AHI average has ranged between 0.8 and 1.3 for longer than a month with the FFM, I don't want to mess with "success" if a nasal mask isn't going to work for me.

Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
The UPS driver just delivered my package from cpap.com. Yay! among the other things I ordered, I thought I ordered a pair of Quick Clips to put on the headgear for my EasyLife mask. Unfortunately, I apparently wasn't paying attention when I ordered. I thought they came in pairs. (The masks all have clips on 2 sides right?) Imagine my surprise/dismay when I opened the package and realized I had only ordered one, not one pair. Totally due to my lack of attention to detail during ordering. I guess I'll see how it works with one until the next time I have other things to order.

Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
Try without the clips straps.....I had the same 'concern' but after a few days found not a problem. The lower straps loosen easily and since the mask is so light, it doesn't have to be tightened much to get a good fit.
On my side, I'm getting used to the easylife and it's working nicely. Still a little rain in the mask but that's probably due to cold room temp and colder temp outside!

Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
I think that this may not be the right mask for me. I added the quick clip which did make it easier to get past my ponytail. I don't feel like I get enough air with this mask. I asked the DME if I needed to change the mask setting on my machine and he said no. (it is set for the Quattro) I think that the problem may be that the length between the top of the forehead piece and the bottom of the mask may not be long enough. The seal of the mask keeps riding up against my nose and partially blocking my nares. When I lower it, the top of the forehead piece sits by my eyebrows. If I make it tight enough to stay there, it is not at all comfortable.
Ah well, back to the Quattro for me. I'm disappointed though because I like the feel of the mask (if it fit). I guess I'll take it to my mother next time I visit. Maybe she will like it and she can use it as an alternate to her LT.

Re: Respironics EasyLife Nasal Mask
First few nights I also felt not enough air at lower settings (I'm on apap) but improved when pressure increased. It takes a little getting used to. Now at lower setting (changed from 4 to 5) it feels fine and when it get's to 9, feels like arctic airbailachel wrote:I don't feel like I get enough air with this mask. Re seal - that's actually a plus for me - it keeps a good seal even when are straps are relatively loose. Maybe you don't have the right size interior nasal cushion - maybe next size up would work?
