The wosr part of my OSA journey
The wosr part of my OSA journey
It had to be bad cause it still gives me the willies 3 weeks later. As much as we like to !@$# and moan about how much of a PITA sleep studies are I would have them for a week straight rather than have an ENT snake a little scope up my nose into my sinus cavaties... I just shivered typing it
Go to the Happy Place
I got scoped a bunch of times for my sinus/nasal surgery. The doc sprayed in a BUNCH of numbing stuff before running the fiber down to my throat through my nose.
Even with that I had to "go to the happy place" and try not to think about it as a the doc did the procedure. I think it was worse on the followup times when I knew the sting was coming.
BUT, on the positive side, this use of the scope is evidence that you might actually have a GOOD doctor, which is a rare and prized find indeed. It certainly shows your doc is being thorough and not just flashing a light up your nose before diving in with a scalpel.
The discomfort and surgery was most certainly worth it in my case.
Just remember to go to the Happy Place.......
And if you think THIS is bad, try going to a dermatologist that doesn't do ANY prenumbing before sticking a novacaine needle a bunch of times into my face. THAT made the fiber scope seem like a walk in the park. (I won't be returning to THAT dermatologist!)

Re: yuck
Actually my good ENT used both the scope AND a good set of CT scans, which is actually the minimum that should be done.barbyann wrote:What ever happened to good old x-rays?

Try the dentist I had as a kid - he started drilling immediately after giving the novacaine. And if you think THIS is bad, try going to a dermatologist that doesn't do ANY prenumbing before sticking a novacaine needle a bunch of times into my face. THAT made the fiber scope seem like a walk in the park. (I won't be returning to THAT dermatologist!)
The first time I went to the dentist as an adult, he gave me the novacaine and turned to walk out of the room. "Where are you going???" I asked. "I'll be right back," he said. "The novacaine needs a few minutes to take affect." Ohhhh...
Can't imagine why I have a ridiculous fear of dentists. I can't go without pills helping me get to my happy place.
One soft, sweet song's just enough to clear my head...
