zest mask
zest mask
Hi all, I have only had my machine for about a month and I love it, what a difference it has made. My question is the first mask I got was a zest and it worked great except that it would rub a place right under my nose raw almost to the point of bleeding. They have since given me a swift lt which works but I do not feel I sleep as well. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there are any solutions.

Re: zest mask
Hello JKH83,
I hear you, I have a Zest mask and loved it - I loved it 'till it rubbed a raw spot under my nose too. I let it heal, using another mask, then tried again. Unfortunately it made a larger raw place under my nose, so that mask is added to my box of masks that were not a good fit for me. I originally tried the 3 variations of the Swift mask. None of them worked for for me. I have a ResMed nasal mask, the mask itself was too heavy I have also have the Respironics Full Face Mask. I wouldn't recommend that one to anyone.
The secret of successful sleep therapy is getting the right mask. The mask I'm using now is a full-face Mirage Quattro. It took me about a week to get used to it. It left a red mark on my nose. It wasn't a raw place, just a mark. I put a piece of paper tape on my nose for about a week, then tried without it. It was good then. I am getting better therapy with the Quattro than I have with any of the other masks.
By all means, return the mask while you have the 30 day window. When you try a mask at your DME's, take the time to lie down, and see if how it fits you, Also, try lying on your side, & don't be in a hurry to decide.
Don't be discouraged, sometimes a person can find the right mask the first time. Most of us, however, have a box of discards.
My very best to you. Jan

Have you looked at the 'Breeze'? It doesn't touch your face. You're sure to get other recommendations too.
