EPR reduces the pressure that you exhale at.
For example, if your prescribed pressure is 9, and EPR is set to 3, you will inhale at 9 and exhale at 6, making it easier to exhale.
What pressure are you currently using? Do you feel like you aren't getting enough air? Many doctors start the pressure too low, or start the ramp too low, and we feel like there isn't enough air. If your machine is starting at 4 or 5m, you probably need to raise the starting pressure to at least 6.
If you are having trouble exhaling, then usually the EPR will help. Depending on your pressures, you may need a machine that allows for a larger difference between inhale and exhale.
Please tell us what machine you are using, what mask, and what your pressure settings are. We will do our best to help you make it more comfortable while still being therapeutic.
