PapCap with Hybrid?

Post by LinkC » Tue Jan 12, 2010 1:42 pm

My Hybrid headgear has stretched to about the end of its usable life. I'm contemplating a PapCap instead of replacing the headgear. Anyone have experience (good or bad) with using the PapCap for a Hybrid mask? Tnx in advance...

Enquiring minds want to know, as my headgear seems to stretch, too.

You mean a Hybrid like this: https://www.cpap.com/viewImage.php?PNum ... -front.jpg

I need to get one and test it...

The PAP-Cap PLUS is for standard four point attachment systems, with a forehead bridge

The bottom extensions should work fine but the top connectors would have to be tweaked a bit. This would not be difficult to figure out.

If your cheeks stiff puff the chinstrap might still serve a purpose. Installed just tight enough to allow mouth breathing, It would prevent the cheeks from blowing out and prevent the jaw from dropping enough to break the bottom seal....
Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.

Yeah, I was wondering if the uppers have enough adjustment (and length) to work with the unusual attach points.

PAPCap: A "hat" with built-in mask straps and/or chinstrap. Reputed to be much more comfortable than neoprene straps. Here:

LinkC, I've tried the papcap with the hybrid but i just used the cap and velcro chin strap with the mask over the top. I did not fasten the papcap straps to the hybrid mask in any way as i thought they would take away then tension needed by the hybrids top straps to keep the nasal cushions up against the nares.

Also the papcap is blue and I don't think they do one in red yet

Good luck

Not sure if this will help Linkc but I just got the "Cat in the Hat " look going last week.

Here is my Activa LT hooked up to the PapCap 'plus',I think the picture is a bit larger than on the Pursleep website.

For reference, the velcro strap on the bottom of the photo is 7 inches long and folds into a 4 inch loop maximum.(two extra were supplied)
The top straps are removable and the lower ones are fixed in place.
It should work for you with the chinstrap in place,as you can see how far down the felt extends for you to secure the removable straps.

When all is connected this way to the cap,I have found that the fit (once adjusted) is more secure than the factory headgear.

Since I recently had my pressure bumped up,I had a very high leak rate from the mouth and this issue was addressed with the chinstrap.

Look at before and after:

All said I'm satisfied with the hat but like Carbonman had suggested,a breathable mesh top would make it more comfortable.
