Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users
Re: Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users
Update:
I've sent out about 20 units but have run out of chinstraps for this trial and it's taking a bit longer than expected to get more in stock. The balance will go out next week.
Thanks for your patience...and if you got yours, please provide feedback. So far I've only had one response.

Re: Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users
Bret, I just emailed you, with my comments on the new chin strap. After 3 nights, I found it to be much more comfortable than the original one, which I had abandoned.

Re: Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users
I had just received a new papcap yesterday, and I tried it, but I couldn't sleep with it. I guess, it has the new chin strap.
It caused pain on my cheeks, is this normal? or Would I get used to it?

What kind of pain? Like it was too tight, and left marks on your cheek? Or, like it was mis-aligning your jaw, thus causing jaw pain?fidelfs wrote:I had just received a new papcap yesterday, and I tried but I couldn't sleep with it. I guess has the new chin strap.

I would recommend reviewing the video:

Re: Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users
The problem is with the chin strap and the Velcro seams (the ones where you attach the mask. The little rectangular velcro in the chin strap.)
It is just makes pressure to the cheek bone when I attached to the cap. When the chin strap is attached to the cap the seems are at the same level as the nasion (nose bridge), just under my eyes.

Hey Bret,
I also e-mailed you my reply.
I am loving the new strap much better, no lines at all. More comfortable than the first one for me anyways.
Thank you
Susan

To the people still waiting, I am still working on getting the balance out--I want to tweak a few things and see if it makes a difference.SleepGuy wrote:Update:

Hi fidel....I am not sure I understand what you are saying. The chinstrap itself is adjustable as to tension and angle, so you should be able to orient it in a comfortable position?fidelfs wrote:The problem is with the chin strap and the Velcro seams (the ones where you attach the mask. It may help to make sure that the cap is attached securely and it centered in your head (you can measure that by feeling the velcro just above the temples and making sure they are evenly lined up in relation to your ears).
Also, if the attachment point at the chinstrap is causing discomfort you can always use the extensions to attach the mask. You just leave the little plastic adapters connected to the extensions (loop the extension through the slot). Connect and disconnect using the adapter. The extensions work well in masks where you need to achieve stronger tension on the bottom connection points.
I am very interested in helping you figure this out so I can improve the instructions and possibly modify the product.

I will email you pictures of what I am doing so you could see clear. Last night I was able to use it but I sacrificed tension for comfort to make it work. It did work.
Like I said the seams are to stiff, maybe is just me, not big deal. I'll email you tonight when I get home.

Re: Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users
I envy all you guys. I could not wear it all night, I think the papcap is not for me. I will have to return it.
It looked very promising but I cannot deal with the pain that caused me.

Re: Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users
Where did you feel the pain? Was it from all those layers of material crossing over behind the head? Or was it the chinstrap, itself?fidelfs wrote:I envy all you guys. I could not wear it all night, I think the papcap is not for me. I will have to return it.

I still haven't gotten mine to try out.

Re: Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users
It was the chinstrap. The chinstrap has velcro in the outside for people wanted to not use the mask headgear. They can use some velcro extensions that come with the papcap to remove the headgear and with the velcro attach it to the chinstrap.
Well, the seams are bulky and stiff. Those seam made my cheekbone sore and also my chin has pain during the night. The idea is good but I don't think is comfortable if you are overweight. There is to extra meat that is being press by the seams and the chinstrap.
The product is well made, but like any other thing it works for some and for others doesn't.
