Yup. You may never see that prescription but the sleep center can't provide the CPAP w/o the doctor having written a prescription for it.
You should insist on a copy of your prescription tho, as you never know when traveling that your CPAP might not be broken, stolen or lost. Keep a copy in your files and carry a copy in your wallet at all times.
Was that $1200-$1400 quote for just the CPAP or was it for the CPAP and all accessories complete? If that is the complete cost, and you have the option of insisting on and getting a fully data capable CPAP and they have a lenient mask exchange policy I'd be inclined to go w/the local. Frankly, I find the mask exchange insurance from online suppliers rather expensive. I understand the cost of shipping to and from but still ..... I'd rather deal locally for a mask if the local providers have a lenient mask exchange policy. I would not be above buying the CPAP and accessories except mask online and buying the mask locally until I found "the" right mask. A lot depends on how helpful and pleasant to work with the local provider is. Far too many of them are just sheisters. But a good one can be a real blessing.
By all means, do NOT accept or purchase anything less than a fully data capable xPAP!!!!
