Reassembled Quattro & now elbow leaks

Post by SleepingUgly » Thu Dec 31, 2009 7:49 am

I washed my Quattro and put it back together and now air is leaking out at the elbow. I think it's that little, fragile piece that has the membrane in it and the sides/clips that stick out a bit because if I press on the clip/sides, the noise of the air coming out stops. Can anyone help with this?

There are quite a few threads on fixing Quattro mask leaks. if you use the search function and look for the topic you will find them. Two of the popular fixes are to use plumber's teflon tape on the elbow or silicone earplugs on the seal. Not in your ears The material is rolled and flattened and placed in the leak area. There are descriptions and even pictures of how to do this. I have tried these ideas and they worked for me. Good luck!

From what your saying it sounds like you possibly put it back together wrong when you cleaned it. Take a look at it and that clip should snap on nicely and fit tight. If it is leaking from that part of the elbow it has to be with the clip and the flapper. If it is leaking at the swivel by the mask, you don't have it seated all the way into the mask.

On your mask, the part of the elbow that fits into the mask, does it look like it has slits in it or is it solid. The one with slits is the old design and the solid one is the new design.

You are right, there are slits at the part of the elbow that fit into the mask (I have another Quattro in a different size and I see that it does not have the slits, so I know exactly what you mean!). The slits are partially in and partially out of the mask, so air leaking out. But I don't know why I didn't notice this noise/leak before this. Do I have it reassembled wrong if they are sticking out?

Yes i use the quattro full face mask and i have found that the elbow joint is a common fault on this mask ,
The simple easy answer for this is plumbers ptfe tape (white plastic tape) apply around the elbow joint and push into mask the tubing will still swivel round and it will solve the problem .

The slits should be sticking out very little on the inside of the mask. The outside should look flush.

Sorry I didn't answer sooner, I had to turn off the notifications, I get too much email and messages on my phone from work.
