Hose cover link?
Hello all,
I am a cpap newbie, but have learned so much by visiting this website. I have been on cpap therapy for less than a week and its been relatively smooth and I have noticed an improvement in alertness and energy already. I did have a rain out the night before last so I moved my machine a little lower and moved the humidity level down just a tad. This morning its seemed like it was a little too dry so I have some more tweaking to do. In case I want to invest in a hose cover I am hoping there is a link to a site that sells those somewhere on this site. Can anyone help me with that? I have a Resmed Elite S8 II and a Respioronics Comfort Gel mask (although I think I may be switching to a nasal pillow next). Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Re: Hose cover link?
I have one of these, and it's beautifully made:
http://www.padacheek.com/PAC_Hosecover.html
You can also buy "commercially" made ones at cpap.com, cpapauction, ebay, etc. but they're not nearly as well made, or of good quality fabric, in my opinion.
Or, you can make or knit or crochet your own. It's basically a long tube, and closed at the end with velcro, or ponytail scrunchies. Some have used sleeves from sweat shirts, scarves, or light weight polar fleece fabric.

Hello & Welcome, Geminidream! Glad you found this forum—SO much useful info and everyone here is so willing to help!
You're lucky to have found this forum as you begin CPAP—took me almost year before I found this place and, with the help of folks here, got my CPAP therapy working as it should. A hose cover helps prevent rainout, but some of us have to use a heated hose to stop the rain. Here's the link to the heated Aussie Hose: http://www.sleepzone.com.au/showitems.a ... %20Tube%27

Re: Hose cover link?
Thanks so much for the links and ideas! My mom is a genuius with a sewing machine.....may ask her to make me a hose cover in Dallas Cowboys material I will keep the heated hose cover in mind if this does not help. After last night, I think I had the humidity set too low....CPAP therapy is ruled by adjustments...sigh.
Re: Hose cover link?
My cousin just bought hose covers KatieW mentioned and loves them. My insurance paid for mine and so they are Respironics covers.
I ended up loving the ComfortLite2 (CL2) after trying many masks before that and after using a nasal mask vs pillows for nearly a year if memory serves. Anyway, I vetoed the CL2 because it looked so huge. But when wearing it, it feels light and almost 'not there'. I love it!
By the way, if you end up with a CL2, you may want to buy the cover also made by Padacheek. http://www.padacheek.com/PACCL2.html I bought two so one can be in the wash process while wearing the other.

Re: Hose cover link?
I believe it's the respironics tube cover that has a zipper on it for easy installations and removal. I have one and use it all the time but it's not the soft fluffy material like the other ones.
Maybe they will make them with some kind of zipper in them too.

Actually Gerry, that's the RESMED hose cover. It's blue nylon, with a full length zipper.
Padacheek's fleece hose covers are superior by far, in my estimation. I've made my own, and bought several different kids. Karen uses 3 layers of fleece, and it's very high quality, non pilling fleece. Looks nice, feels nice, and WORKS GREAT!
Karen will also make you just about anything you want. Just email her and talk to her about it. I've had her make two custom items for me this year - a fleece cannula cover for my NAII, and a silk tube wrap for my chinstrap. The chinstrap was irritating the skin of my chin, and we came up with an idea for a silk tube that would velcro around the chinstrap and be less irritating to my skin. So far so good!
Best of luck,
Barbara

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
Re: Hose cover link?
Yep, it's the ResMed that has a zipper - I have two. They make the hose too stiff and don't provide enough insulation. I haven't tried the Padacheek hose covers, but intend to the next time I buy. Where did you find the silk tube wrap for your chinstrap. Silk is nice. Sometimes it causes me to get a rash if I don't wash it every other time (about) wearing it. I use a silk eye mask at night.Babette wrote:Actually Gerry, that's the RESMED hose cover. It's blue nylon, with a full length zipper.

Re: Hose cover link?
Padacheek rocks for me. Totally, man...
They are VERY well made and thick. Never have had a rainout problem since, even with the humidifier cranked up a bit. Our bedroom is usually about 70-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
